    R2 with r3 motherboard?

    hey all, i dont have one but i was under the impression that the r2 and r3 share the same chassis and ports right? soooooo i was thinking today, couldnt you swap out the r2 motherboard with an r3 and get all the sandybridge and DX11 goodness?

    You should be able to yes, but you have to keep in mind costs on this.
    To make a r2 into a r3, you need the mother board and usb board (to get the usb 3.0)

    Now, r2 mother boards just hit ebay not to long ago and go for $300+, to find a r3 board is going to be hard, and probably cost some good money too. r3 daughter boards (usb 3.0 boards) are not even out yet, but when they do show up I will be first in line to get one.

    In the end, its cheaper to sell off your r2 and just buy the r3 you want. You will be saving alot of money and head aches.

    Now if you just wanted to have the only lunar shadow r3, then It might be worth it, but you can just buy a lunar shadow shell for about 80 bucks and then swap it into a r3.

    R3 motherboards are just not available for purchase...
    I would love to get R3 motherboard and replace it on my R2 and BOOM.
    Now it's R3 =)
