Hello. I have had the m11x for about a week now and it's apparently been working fine. Using a modified power saver profile, I was able to achieve around 6 hours 12 minutes of battery life. However, I recently left the computer on sleep mode with the charger plugged in and when I removed the cable one day later, my max battery life seemed to be stuck at 3 hours. If it helps, my browser was on youtube (which turns the GPU on) while my computer was asleep and plugged in, but even after reboot, the estimated life remained at 3 hours. The GPU, as indicated by the optimus test tool, was off. Is my battery ruined or is their a bug in the battery indicators (used the batterybar program)? Is there any way to fix this problem?

EDIT: Built in battery indicator had predicted 2 hours 40 minutes one second and the next it read 7 hours 58 minutes (which seems rather impossible), though currently the laptop is simply turned on and not in use. Batterybar still indicates 3 hours of life left.

it might just be a battery bug, sometimes my max battery life says 3 hours then jumps to 5 hours. if you are concerned do an idle test and see how long the battery lasts; set it do the display stays on and the laptop doesn't go to sleep. from there you may or may not need to investigate it any further

Thanks for the response. I'd also like to add that the discharge rate reads around -9300 mW and the current capacity is 62460 mwH....If I'm not mistaken, isn't the software completely miscalculating? Dividing the capacity by discharge rate (if that's what I'm supposed to do yields almost 7 hours in battery life).

sounds like a miscalculation by the program; my minimum discharge rate is -10800 mw and that is leading windows to say ~5hrs 50 mins and battery bar to say ~4 hours 45 mins. sometimes the windows estimation seems to be way off and says 3 hours. maybe this is just a weird case of "time to re-install battery bar"

-9300mw isnt 3 hours, the estimate just isnt too accurate for now
    edit: beat

Powersaver mode, not OC'd, alienfx off, faservice off (facial recognition), search indexing off, microsoft office services off, minimum brightness. Also, I made it so even in powersaver mode, i get max performance when I plug the charger in. Use the alienfusion advanced settings to make battery v. A/C related changes. Windows battery management doesn't seem to stick properly.

Also, keep in mind that the 9300 mW discharge rate is when I'm doing basically nothing. Any action seems to make it jump.

I posted this in the R2 Owner's Lounge:

    idle 8W= 8.5 hours
light browsing (no flash) 14W=4.9 hours
browsing (with flash, 335M not active) 20W=3.5hours
browsing (with flash, 335M active) 30W= 2.3 hours
    SC2 gaming + browser open in background + 6 brightness +AlienFX (335 on) 50W= 1.4 hours

To get idle watt consumption below 10W double check and make sure you aren't running any programs in the background (CPUID, HWMonitor, Task Manager, the 335M State Viewer, etc.). Having gadgets ups/sticky notes might make a small difference too. Power saving, lowest brightness, and no alienFX. I haven't done anything else special. If your idle watt consumption is above 10k, you most definitely have some program running in the background.

it is probably the anti-virus software nod32 running in the background

Also you should keep stock clocks (my previous numbers were with stock clocks). I did a quick test just now since I have mine currently OC and I idle just below 10W.

    Try going to device manager

Go to the batteries category and uninstall the driver for Microsoft ACPI comlpiant control method battery (right click it to un install) and then after it un installs scan for hardware changes, DONT REMOVE THE BATTERY OF AC CHARGER WHILE DOING THIS, let it install again, reboot, then tell me how that goes
