Its not really a big deal, but my R2 hangs at the bios screen when I have my phone plugged into the USB. I unplug the phone and it continues.

    Anyone else seen this?

    Its a Motorola Droid FWIW.

Yeah I have had the same issue. I think it's to do with the BIOS getting stuck identifying the usb device or something like that.

Not uncommon. I've had other PC's do similar things, where windows wouldn't fully start until I unplugged the USB device. If memory serves, I think it used to happen with my blackberry.

My MSI notebook does the same thing if I have certain USB devices plugged in. I would have this problem mostly with my USB printer because it has a built-in card reader. You could adjust the boot order in the BIOS, but when I take my laptop on the road, upon bringing it back home and reconnecting everything, I would have the exact same problem. I figured out that if I plugged the printer into a certain port on my NZXT Cryo LX cooler, the BIOS would not detect it as a device, but it would still work fine once in Windows.

The problem results from the BIOS putting a connected USB storage device (be it a thumb drive, HDD, card reader) first in the boot order by default. I would think this could be easily fixed by re-working the BIOS so that such devices are put at the bottom, leaving the boot order that was established by the end user otherwise in tact. I have an open tech support thread with MSI, and the rep says he is going to contact their home office and have them look into it. I need to follow-up on that.

Many computers (laptops and desktops) will do this when you have an unmounted USB storage device plugged into it. Not all computers do this, and not all storage devices do this. But it happens.

Your computer happens to see your Motorola Droid as a USB storage device with unmounted storage (the micro-SD card isn't mounted to the PC).

Solution: Just unplug your Motorola Droid before you boot up your computer. Problem solved.
