So, it's not even one month out of warranty and my battery is biting the dust, just my luck. I have the little red x over the battery icon saying replace battery soon and an energy report show less than 40% capacity.
Even still, I use the thing in moderation and this fall off has been quite precipitous, I've only noticed a loss of holding charge in the past week. I just wondered if such a fast falloff was normal. The only thing I've done lately of significance was updating the graphics drivers.
My other strange issue is that the front lights, the power button and hinge lights and the "alienware" light have all also failed, seemingly to coincide with this battery failure. I don't know if there is some kind of connection as to why these wouldn't work, I know they are effected by power states, but I don't see why they wouldn't work when the laptop is plugged up.
Anyway I tried disconnecting the battery, draining, then powering up, all to no avail so I guess it's just shot.
I wouldn't even mind the battery failure that much, I can deal with a cord, but the lights are kind of a bummer, along with the suddenness of it all, well that and the warranty being up for just 20 days.
So any advice, questions or comments are welcome, especially on the lights issue. Also, where is a good place to find a battery replacement since Dell doesn't have them?

I have a brand new battery I received from dell for another m11x r2.
I ended up selling this other r2 before the battery arrived. The buyer negotiated a price for the r2 without battery. He said he has access to a battery. I called him twice to tell him I have the battery and he never returned my calls.
pm me if interested. -
I don't know what's up but I can't find a PM button anywhere.
