Got an R1 SU7300, and the multi is stuck at 3.5. I've tried a bios reset, tried different memory, tried chipset driver (W7 64), bios is up to date (A05), Not yet tried a OS reinstall...but that's the next step I guess. Any other ideas? One thing worth mentioning...this is actually mounted on a wall behind my office monitors. It isn't connected to the laptop's LCD, so I cannot get into the bios to change things in there. I have screenshots that I've used to try to guess, but I should at least be at 1.3 after the bios reset (battery removed, 10 minutes, done). Side note: R2/3 enables access to bios through external display...not sure if there is any way to do this on an R1...have tried both dsub and hdmi individually, but nothing pre-windows. It's just a guess, but maybe the previous owner messed up on the pin mod. Did you get it in this condition?

good theory, but no pin mod was attempted on this board.

If anyone cared, I was able to resolve this issue via Throttlestop. Turned on every option possible, and it seemd "chipset clock mod and clock modulation" did the trick. I'm now at 266x6.0=1600. Lightspeed faster than the 900mhz it was running at.

You should know that CPU-z doesn't report the actual CPU speed sometimes. When overclock mode is enabled, like in your case, the speed reported is wrong. The actual multiplier is 6.5x, so the CPU speed is acutally 1.73GHz. To see the 100% accurate CPU speed, use this program:

agreed, but at nearly double the speed, I could instantly tell the difference, especially with how cpu-bottlenecked our R1s are.

That is good that you got it fixed. Do you know why it was stuck in the first place?

Not sure why it was stuck in the first place. Without TS, it remains at 930 with a 3.5 multi. Again, I run my R1 caseless, nailed to the wall behind two monitors in my office. There is no battery, and I also use an aftermarket charger. So likely the combination of these things may have had a contributing effect...however, I'm certain that when I first set it up this way, it was working fine.

It might be due to the charger. I have an old Inspiron 1520 which would downclock even if I run it off a non-dell 120W adapter. It's official adapter is 90W. In fact, the laptop runs worse on the 3rd party 120W adapter than on my m11x's 65W adapter.

Had the same thing happen to me over a year ago with my M11xR1

Read the following post: M11xR1 CPU clocking at 900MHz

Freaked me out when I first noted it.

There is some thought it may be to do with the Battery charger or some combination thereof.

As I read over my own post, I see that unplugging the AC power seemed to correct things.(maybe)

My M11xR1 has been running well ever since and I've never had the problem again.

Three years and going strong... :D
