I ordered an R1 with a 160gb hdd, and it should be arriving this afternoon. Can anyone tell me how much free hdd space will actually be available on it? Also is it difficult to upgrade the hdd?

You will probably about about 110-120gb available, after the conversion and installlation of windows. It is very easy to upgrade the HDD you will also need to re-install windows though.

Upgrade is Easy. Just unscrew the underside, slide out the HDD, and then reverse the process.

I am guessing you will have about 145 to 150 gb left on the original HDD. *** After seeing Ninja's post... I think I could be way off *****

I suggest going to an SSD if/when you can afford it. The size may not be as large, but the gains are totally worth it. I was on the fence and took the plunge and now will never look back.

Problem with hard drives is that the manufactures calculate 1kb to be 1000bytes, in windows a kb is 1024bytes, you compound that, and your 160gb hard drive drops down to about 140 or so.

    but i ordered the 500GB 7200RPM.

WISH THE R2 WAS ON THE SITE LAST NIGHT.

Tried canceling the order, but they shipped mine like instantly.
