I once dl'ed the latest ones from nvidia, which really screwed up my display [cant find nvidia card, can only use intel one]

what's the most recent one that works with the r1 and its manual graphics toggle?

    i currently have 188.55
i tried 275.33, it messed up my display and i had to roll back
however, in my add/remove programs the 275.33 entry is still there and has not died, trying to uninstall it doesnt do a thing

also should i get my drivers from nvidia [as they said the 275.33 was for the 335m] or should i use the dell site instead?

You should use the one from dell , getting them by your service tag.

You may use driversweeper to remove everything from the 275.33 ( wich should work , you just can't use the intel card )

Or , if you really screwed up everything , just do like i did 1 week ago : Alienrespawn

ah, thanks, ill dl the one from dell, its 263.08 and see what happens

so in driver sweeper... do i remove all the nvidia drivers it found? as i cant tell which is 1.88 and which is 2.75

also for alienrespawn, does it delete all files and programs [like starcraft2], or just restores the windows and drivers?

You can choose. Re-install windows with all drivers already ok ( GPU is not the last one , but still works ) , and delete everything , or just windows, but it put all your program in one folder than you can go search after.

Programs like starcraft save everything over Battle.net , so no need to worry. You can still do an alienrespawn if you do not have any backup possible ( like external hard drive or another computer to swap file with : that's what i did : send everything to my desktop, alienrespawn, and get them again. )

only issue with sc2 is that i dont have the happy 18gb installer, so id need to reDL that

but ill give the driversweeper a go, remove all the nvidia stuff, then install the one from the dell site, hopefully itll up the framerate a bit in sc2

Hey my wife has my old R1 if you want to use the most updated drivers you have to go into the bios and disable the intergrated card and set it to only use the nvidia card and all the newer drivers will work. Only drawback is you will no longer have switchable GPU you will now only run the nvidia card.

I gess GPU performans vs Battery life is something your worried about dont go down this route. But if you want better drivers and better overclocking the newer drivers are much better to pull more performance out of your R1

when i did my fail install of the 275 drivers, i did not set my bios to the discrete card and it only used the intel one, which was not fun

but now i wonder if i was to install the newest nvidia drivers, and if i say needed to use the intel card, i should just switch it in the bios to get the old card enabled?

not as quick as fn+f6, but id still have the other card useable if it works, hmm

Wait, you gave me an idea. I was thinking about buying an SSD, but i'll buy a 750 2"5 hd , and make 2 partitions : one for school with switchable ( maybe linux ) , and one for gaming :) :D
