    Question About Webcam!

    Heya guys!

    Just been stalking the forums ever since I got my M11x R2, but I haven't been posting much. ^^;

    Anyways! I just got my screen replacement, woo! (I suggest you guys get on that ASAP if you haven't still and DON'T own the R3)

    So my question is since they are replacing the screens with the new builds, does that mean we get the webcam that would technically come with the R3? Which is a 2.0MP camera; and the R1/R2 only has a 1.3MP.

    I would assume so since it is an assembly and downgrading the R2's would not go over well from a PR pov. Then again, assumptions are just that.

    Did they replace the entire upper part of the computer or just the LCD panel and lighting? If they replace the entire upper then in theory you should get the new cam. If it's just the panels then probably not. That said given the cam is attached to the screen they might just have a single assembly with the cam already attached.

    I can't speak for the M11 but my M15 while a refurb doesn't have the webcam in it.

    From my experience with dell, all the M11x replacement screens come pre packaged as one massive chunk (I've had it replaced twice), you basically just get an entire new lid. The gamble is that, depending on what they have in stock at the time, they may give you a spare R2 screen instead of the new R3 if they have them.

    Just hope they don't have any R2 screens laying around when you call them, it's been a while since the R2 release so you never know.
