Since I started researching for a new laptop I have noticed a trend that I wanted to see if anyone could explain. I have seen a not so insignificant amount of for sale ads for M11x-R2/3 where the person is keeping their R1 and selling the newer tech. Is there a reason why the original is being kept? Is it because the newer stuff can fetch more money? Any ideas why?

I have always been a fan of the M11x and wouldn't mind having one now. What is the best bang for my buck when it comes to these little powerhouses?

Two main reasons i would imagine-

    1. The R2 & R3 perform better, but not by THAT much. R1 has better battery life & smaller power pack but all the style.

    2. The R1 is not really worth too much nowdays. It has an old C2D and averages at around $300-350. You can get double for the newer gens.

Thank you for your response, that is kind of what I was thinking. For someone who will mainly be using one for web surfing, watching Netflix, occasionally editing pics in Photoshop and web design, would a first gen last a few years for me? (I may even play a round or two of Command and Conquer, Red Alert 3) I know the small screen isn't ideal, but portability is highest on my list.
