Hey guys need a lil help here..

So basically I got my hinges replaced and they work fine now, but now I'm getting an error when I try to access my nvidia panel. The error is
"You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU." Now all my games are running off integrated and I can't even access my nvidia gpu.

I did a fresh install of W7, something I was planning to do already, and the problem is still present. I was wondering whether it was possible the technician did not connect the lcd properly or if this is a driver problem (I did try updating my drivers multiple times). Thx in advance.

Well, you can call dell and tell them to come fix it, or you can take apart your computer and try reseating the lcd cable.

yeah the technicians dell provides are pretty sloppy. you kind of have to watch over there shoulder and make sure they dont mess your stuff up as mine from the first hinge replacement made my touchpad stop working. i had to call dell back and get a touchpad replacement (which took about 4 weeks since there was a "delay" in the part) and the funny thing was is the technician that fixed my hinge was the same one replacing my touchpad (that broke it in the first place). believe me. he got an ear full.

Yeah he actually messed up my keyboard connector thing too so he had to replace that. Problem is I'm now outta warranty so I don't think I'll be getting any more help.

Forgot to mention that he replaced the entire LCD and not just the hinges. I have my laptop opened up, is there a place other than the LCD cable I should be examining?

Doesnt matter that your out of warranty, the person who broke it is responsible for fixing

Agreed. And the sooner they're called back the better. As in right now, stop what you're doing and ring them up with the intent on making sure that they understand that they horked your laptop and are responsible for sending someone out there to fix what was broken. Do not accept anything less than having it function as it is supposed to.

The on-site tech is supposed to run a standard diagnostic after reassembling the notebook. I know this tests the display, but am not clear on whether it tests the 335 and IGP independently.

Yeah will do. Reseating the connector did nothing, gonna call em up.

Could anyone offer me any fixes? Called support today and the rep refused to help me unless I got a new warranty. He was convinced that the error I got was purely a software issue and not related to the LCD replacement, therefore they didn't "cause" it.

Contact Chris the forum moderator over at Dell's Alienware Owners Club forum. He's usually very good about sorting support out on this sort of issue.

The thing you need to make them clear on is that the original support case is NOT closed; that there are ongoing issues that arose as a result of the work that was done under warranty.
