    TL;DR
: Sound "trips" result in skipping of a beat, really annoying, possible sound driver issue, advise?

    Hey all,

I've owned the M11x R2 for about 4 months now, and have loved it a lot. Anyways, on to the guts of the problem.

In as best and briefest detail, I classify it as the sound "tripping". Essentially, a couple times every minute, while playing any sounds, it will lag on playing, but not in the classic sense of the term lag, because it's still playing okay.

It's not an issue of processing, because there is no performance spike or anything like that, the sound trips just randomly happen.

I can't really describe it any better, it's just really annoying and very unacceptable because I listen to music a lot.

It's not an issue with the speakers as best I can tell, because it still happens with headphones in both headphone ports.

It's possible it's an issue with my wireless card, but I really don't think so because playing local files results in the same trips.

    Specs in sig

    THANKS!

Have you tried a few different media players?

Are you using Realtek HD audio with version 6.0.1.6167 or better?

It is possible there is an interface 'interrupt', but if you're using, say winamp, with local HDD music, with no other external connections active, then there shouldn't be any 'interrupts'.

Yes, trying different audio players was my first response. Both internet and local based players, of which I've tried iTunes, Winamp, and WMP, resulted in no progress, unfortunately.

As for Realtek, my driver version is: 6.0.1.6083

I tried disabling SRS, no difference.

Then, I noticed I was on stereo sound (mostly because I have noticed this problem since leaving for break, and in my dorm room I connect my laptop to stereo speakers)

Changing it to 5.1 did help for the short time I tested. A few trips still did occur, so I'm going to have to say this is mostly corrected, and I had planned to reinstall windows over my current partition once I got back from break, so no big problem here unless it continues after reinstallation, at which point I'll try getting new drivers, or just complaining to Dell about it, heh, might even get my screen replaced, too.

    Thanks!
