Considering there's an SSD in there, and he's still under warranty, if it's in perfect condition, that's a fair price tbh. Having said that, it likely won't fetch that much because the base i7 can be had for well under $1000 direct from Dell. I would price it at less then a grand and take offers around 900.

yep, if somethings used its going to sell for considerably less then a brand new item, most of the time.

To me the small SSD being only 80 GB hurts the price.

900$ most, considering it's a friend. Not long ago (~1 month) you could by brand new fullspeced for ~850$ (probably what your friend did). The *USED* SSD is at most 100$. 80Gb is too small anyway, probably you will want to change it for more capacity.

Not sure where you guys are getting your numbers from, but those specs for a flat $1000 doesn't look too bad. 8GB memory, win7 Ultimate is what makes it a deal. the 80GB SSD goes for at least $150USD today.

Creating a comparable system on alienware's website brings it to $1100+ (not including tax). So it's a pretty good deal, if it's practically brand new and barely been touched, it might be a good deal.
