My M11x R1 suddenly stopped charging. I verified that my adapter is working fine and the mobo is fine as well since it runs just fine on battery, its just that it doesn't take any power in. I opened it up myself and found that 3 out of 5 wires on the power jack had come off. I don't even know how that could happen but it did. Anyways I need it fixed ASAP so I have only 2 options.

A: Take it to the electrician guy near me and solder the wires back in but he isn't a laptop guy and needs to know which wires go where. So my question is does it matter which wire goes where? If so, can someone post a diagram or a picture of the jack that shows the connection between the wires and their respectable holders. I've been trying to find one on the interwebs and have been unsuccessful.

B: Can I use a power jack from another laptop on the m11x? What are the values I need to look at for compatibility?

Just as an FYI I have green and brown wires that are intact and blue, black and red that are out of place. Below is a picture if it helps.

Appreciate all the help! Really need to fix this quickly.

    Hi Razaa,

I would choose option A and solder back with the help of this picture, I know all colors are not the same but it gives a hint I think.
for option B: it's a generic Dell power connector but I don't know if they mount it the same way on other laptops.

Either replace or use the pics to sort the wire placement. It DOES matter where the wires go.

Yep, replace it like others have said. But only if the tech doesn't know which wire goes where. Don't make an easy problem worse by guessing. Such an odd thing to happen, still it's an easy fix though.

I was wondering if the molex connector cable can be replaced or repaired? After disconnecting so many times, 2 of the molex pin wire came off; not the solder side. Can that be resolder on with a new cable? I understand the other choice is to buy a new DC jack.
