so the cable is kind of going, i am really happy with the endurance, it lasts way way longer than HP or asus ones i had with other laptops... I don't really feel like dishing out money on a new one and i don't really like those cheaper ones that look like bottom half off a tank... So I'm wondering if theres any friendly way to crack it open and move the cable inside, possibly re-solder it making it a bit shorter to cover the part thats going as the rest of it is fine.

But yeah, need to crack it open in a nice way, i have dealt with them before, thought I'd ask if theres some way to do it nicely, cause i had dealt with other ones and they are like a safe in a bank to crack open... had to use a mini disk saw to crack the thing open, would prefer to keep this one clean, as i do carry it with me everywhere and it would be a bit embarrassing whipping out a mess of glue tape and elbow grease... remember in the good olden days you could just unscrew most of them... now they glue clip and weld them shut...

Edit: so i ordered a slim version of it that looks like a topless tank, once i get that ill try to cut this thing open and fix it with the new one for back-up, while doing as little damage as possible to try and keep it looking unlike a Frankensteins monster

Edit again: so the PA-3E isn't the tank tracks like one but a really flat brick one, which is lovely. I shall try and pry my old charger brick open as it is the large one. Will take pictures and possibly make a guide sort of thing in case someone else decides to do it instead of buying a new one, just to try and give an idea of how its better to do it, though i got a feeling ill have to cut it in half with a mini saw.

Ok, so this thing is like Guantanamo Bay or Fort Knox or insert your own impenetrable example here.

basically the joint of the two halves are fused together with either epoxy or thermally, so impossible to separate without making a mess of it... when you get inside though it gets worse, its all epoxied together with putty, thought I could just take the tin or whatever that crap is plates off scrape the epoxy off the wires i need to trim and re-solder put metal plates back on and just figure something out, but no, all the metal plates are epoxied together, so to get them off you have to deform them beyond recognision, or any king of re-usability. last plate was soldered to the chip itself so i just cut that off with my mini saw.

I suppose ill just keep it at home, somehow boxed back in and use my new replacement one on the go. This thing is even worse to repair than damn tablets, and i don't mean them nice ones with screws and stuff, I'm talking an hour of heat gunning just to get the damn front off and then crack it in half half way through...

if mr. dropbox doesn't display my pictures let me know ill work something out. ill put some more photos up when i get the time to play with all that epoxy glob.
