With OC disabled I was getting around 22 avg fps in the Mafia 2 demo on medium settings...thinking I would get an increase in fps, I OCed the cpu (i7) to 162. But when I started the game again I am roughly getting the same performance which is around 23 avg fps on med settings.

I am running on the Nvidia 259.22 drivers. So any suggestions on what I can do to get better performance and why did overclocking the cpu make no difference? (I am a noob to PC gaming)

    thanx

I gave up on OCing CPU after trying it once and saw no difference on 3dmark06.

Don't know anything about that game.

Maybe graphics card is the bottleneck. Use GPU-Z to see what your graphics card load is, and task manager to see what your CPU load is... I would guess that if graphics card ~100% and CPU is < 100 percent, that the GPU is the bottleneck, and overclocking CPU won't help much.

I also had terrible results. I even turned the PhysX off and all settings to low. I have an R1, so I probably don't have the same performance as those of you with the i5's or i7's etc.

I ended up preordering it for PS3. That game looks sweet!

ok I don't know what changed (i think I had AA enabled) but I am getting 25 fps avg on medium settings. Not bad but I would have loved it to have around 30 fps avg.

Just run everything on low. That game still looks good on low settings.
