Ok last night i was just chilling on my computer trying to watch youtube videos and BAM!
Blue screen for a 1/4 of a second just enough to get a small glimpse then it restarts itself back up instantly. =( I thought it was a virus so i let mcafee scan (takes forever) and i came back later to find that my computer resarted and i doubt the scan completed -.- so i ran a faster scan from IoBit security 360 but it found nothing =/
I think i should back up my files that i know are safe, like school papers, then do a complete do over with factory defaults,
    Is this a good idea?
    Or any more suggestions?

Somewhere in the windows settings, there is an option to disable automatic restarting after a crash. change that setting, and then reproduce the error. Also, what laptop is it? is it overclocked? if so, try dialing back the overclock or go to stock settings.

Well if you just google Avast, you will see it's a legitimate free anti-virus program. However, my R2 came with a 15-month subscription to McAfee, so that's the one I'm using. For any other computers, I use Avira, instead of Avast.

I've heard good things about both, so I guess it is just a matter of taste. I was personally drawn to avast due to it's silent "gaming" mode, both have a very high virus detection rating though.

I've been using avast for years and can vouch for them. Plus it notifies me in pirate talk P:

But to bring this thread back to the original topic, your antivirus shouldn't be the problem. If you overclocked to 166mhz, that would 99% be the cause of your BSOD/crash. Keep in mind that you're very lucky you can even boot into Windows at 166mhz because many of us can't.

I find my m11xr2 to be stable at about 154mhz, oh well I guess I've learned to live with hit haha.

This is where I'm at also, 154. You should stress-test with LinX to verify the stability of your overclock. Normally I would say stress test with LinX and FurMark (MSI Kombustor) to make sure your cooling can handle both CPU and GPU running at load, but Dell has specifically stated running tools like FurMark can damage your GPU as it runs it beyond intended operating specs, so I guess we'll have to find a GPU loading tool not as hard core.

Mine wouldn’t boot at 166, but 164 it would. That being said I had to go down to 160 to stop the BSOD’s I was getting during testing. Last night I finally dropped it down to 158 because of some hard lockups I’ve been seeing once and a while.

Funny thing is, I thought everything was running pretty good at 164 for quite a while then all of a sudden started having problems. I cannot overclock my GPU as much as before either. My guess is it has to do with using Throttlestop is causing more CPU heat and affecting my GPU more than it was without Throttlestop. I read that they using the same cooling rather than separate like the R1. My 3dmark CPU score went from 1700 to 2400, but because my graphics scores dropped my overall score only went up a small amount.

BTW, the Microsoft anti virus is great, free, and blends perfectly with Windows, I used AVG for years and is good too....

Avast is the best. AVG was great until 8.0 and McAfee doesn't catch anything. Malware Bytes is also good (but not an actual anti virus).

+1 for the microsoft security AV. Either way I recommend getting rid of Mcafee as well.

I got rid of McAfee too, on all of the comps in the house, that's 5 of them. We use only Microsoft Security Essentials.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. 79.99 - $40.00 off .. office depot, frys electronics, best buy , microcenter.. keep your eye out for the coupon when it goes on sale..
It is a 3 pc user cd key.for that price.

Now, the kaspersky site has a trial version.. but I started noticing ( when it scans the icon throbs ) and it has been doing it a lot on my desktop with the free month trial.. not the bought version ( Retail box ). Friend said the free version seems to be malware.

EVERY person I speak to in the PC stores state .. mcafee is not good.
My friend stated she got a virus with Norton internet security. ( Now with Kaspersky)

Anyone have any issues with Kaspersky?

Were you on wireless? Sounds like the WIFI problem the m11x dell card is notorious for.

It's happened to me tons of times. It sucks

It's happened for me on Youtube, downloads, and online games and other situations where there is a lot of bandwidth coming in or going out all at once.
