Hey All, quick query. I have an R2 that has stable overclock at 166 MHZ (real luckY -although cpuz reports it as 167 :)) however, does overclocking the FSB increase battery drain? On the r1 it didnt... not sure on the r2. Trying to find what the best battery mode is and whether this effects it.

    Thanks!

I've had my R2 for about a few weeks now. I always run at 166 and I notice no different in usage of battery life. I read through threads too saying there isn't much of a difference either. Go for it!

The reason there is no battery drain is likely because turbo boost is hardly ever engaged (if at all) because you're over the TDP/TDC threshold. This also means you're unlikely to see a performance boost with the OC (in fact, some people have shown benchmarks where performance is lower with overclocking). To really take advantage of the OC you'll need a tool to circumvent the turbo power limits (ie/ ThrottleStop).

Obviously this will drain more battery though. But you can't get something for nothing.
