    Hi guys,

Unfortunately for me i had to reformat my M11xR2 due to corrupted system :(

However, after backing up & reinstalling all previous driver, now the graphic is no longer as good as last time. Worst still, the temperature increase like mad. I've tried many tweaks but still not able to find the solution to this.

Then i wanted to run 3DMark11 to find out the performance of my graphic card however surprising enough it detected that i do not have DirectX11 although all M11xR2 came with DirectX11 and i've double confirmed this on dxdiag.

Then i Google a bit and the guys from Futuremark says that all driver that is below Geforce 4xxM is not compatible with DirectX11!

Im not sure if this is true but does this mean it is better for us to use DirectX10? Im very confused here with this and obviously am getting very frustrated trying to find the problem with my graphic.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

I think the Geforce 335M is really doesn't support directX 11, it was mention in any review regarding the m11x

While Windows can have DirectX 11 installed, the 335M can't take advantage of its feature set because the hardware doesn't support it. The max it can do is DirectX 10.1.

So does this mean i have to install DirectX10 or just remain at DirectX11? If so then why does M11xR2 came pre-install with DirectX11 when its not even compatible with Geforce 335M? Thats quite weird to me.

your good with dx11 installed. what they are saying is, you have the software that supports dx11 not the hardware. software is backwards compatible, your GPU cannot support dx11 just dx10

when i upgraded my 260m to the 5850 i had dx 11 support finally instead of dx10
hardware needs to be compatible most importantly

You can have DirectX 11 installed while not supporting it. In general, even if your graphics card only supports DirectX 10.1, the DirectX 11 distributions can still have bugfixes and tweaks which can benefit DX 9 and 10 systems.

Thx 4 d reply guys! So does this mean that my performance would be better on DirectX 11 instead of DirectX 10 because i still have the above mention problem on my laptop. I've tried TS and EVGA but nothing seems to work. I dont think its normal to see my CPU & GPU temperature around 75c-80c when playing games. Optimus problem has been solved too. Now using the 270 beta driver.

Starting to just accept the problem. :(

Ok DX11 on and m11x .. why.. I have trouble playing games as is .. I see the DX9 games are the best playing games.. When I look at COD black ops GPU usages it doesn't even make it past 70%.. I would love to see these games coded correctly

That's perfectly normal, especially considering that the 335M is probably the most powerful GPU crammed into an 11-inch form factor. Were your temperatures getting above 90 degrees, that would be cause for concern. As long as you're getting good performance, you have nothing to worry about.

Erm dun rly get u here r u trying to say its better to have DX 11 or you have problem playing because of DX 11?

    Edited:

I c... but if u say so then why does the GPU was throttled when it reach 80c? Can i set the throttle at a higher temp?

    @DivineAura

The 5850 is way better then the 260 I get like a 20% increase of performance if I even wanted to I can over clock it to make it even better then the 460m, you can check out the m15x forums and see the benchmarks for yourself IE crysis 2.

My WEI on the 260 was 6.7, 5850 was 7.2 that's even on stock clocks.

Not an ATI fanboy nor a nVidia fanboy. Just goes on performance

Notebookcheck is a notoriously unreliable source for card performance because their analyses are never based on apples-to-apples comparisons (this isn't their fault, most of the time you can't do apples-to-apples comparisons with notebooks). This becomes especially relevant when comparing graphics chips of the same generation or only a generation apart.

Take with pinch (no, tablespoon) of salt.

    roxxor is right,

trust me I upgraded 260 to the 5850 and I notice the performance increase first hand, glad I upgraded

if you want to force a game into dx9 just add -d3d9 at the end of your target line.

@Op - Nvidia Started Supporting Dx11 Features on the 4xx series gpu's. ATI started in the 5xxx series gpu's.

@DivineAura--No, the 260m is a strong player of dx10 games and under it doesn't have the capability of the 5850 for most games. Their might be a few exceptions but the 5850 has the potential to outclock even the new 460. This includes game benchmarks, in game performance and hypo benches (such as 3dmark06, vantage, etc...)

Who needs DX11 when barely any games support it? Its like Ageia's/nVidia's phySX, its useless. The 335M has support for DX10 which is good enough since most games use DX9.

the m11x hasnt been officialy announced by dell or alienware. no price, no eta on when it will arrive, for all i know its still fake. but i could be wrong. the manual may have been released but that could have been a test model or something.
