So today at 2p.m. the fedex guy showed up with my brand new Alienware M11x R3 and I have to say I love this thing.

My only question is how do I know if the dedicated card is running?

the r3 and r2's use optimus, meaning that the 540m switchs on and off depending if your playing a game or not. you first hint about weather its turning on or not would probobly be if your fps are in the toilet.

Yeah I know about optimus and I have manually selected my games to use the dedicated card. I was just wondering if there was an actual indicator to let you know that your dedicated graphic card was being utilized. Thanks for the help though!

Search first if you think your question is a "noob question".
    The answer is literally everywhere.
You will encounter countless numbers of questions while using M11x R3 and it is not too late to start searching.

    1. Go to Nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Desktop - Display GPU Activity Icon in the Notification Area

Sorry if it was such an inconvenience to layout two steps for me. However, thanks for the help it will definitely be remembered while I'm in Afghanistan next month.

I suppose the clever thing would be to "know" while in full screen mode. When using the default LCD this may not always be obvious?
