You need to change your audio playback device to hdmi or digital audio output.

If you right click on the speaker icon on the far right of the taksbar and select playback device.

    Supergirl is wicked hot.

Edit: Oh, so that's Laura Vandervoort... I just found out that she played Supergirl on Smallville, and also Lisa on V. She's got a knack for playing hot blonde aliens.

Edit(2): And try re-installing the Intel graphics drivers for your laptop. for my laptop (R2), they contain an audio driver to pass-through the audio signal to the HDMI port. My audio automatically outputs to the HDMI device once I plug an HDMI cable in, without requiring that I change any setting in Windows.

The IGP handles HDMI audio passthrough? I thought I'd read that it was the 335...

Yes, the Intel IGP (located on the Core iX CPU die) handles audio pass-through. It actually handles video pass-through as well. Even when you are running a program that uses the nvidia 335M GPU, the video signal gets passed through the IGP before it hits your display. This is why Optimus can switch GPUs without any screen flicker.

Take a look at the screenshot below. On the left, you can see Device Manager, which shows the Intel audio driver for audio pass-through on the IGP. On the right side, is Sound Playback Devices, which shows only a device for the Realtek onboard sound chip. The Intel audio driver is only there for pass-through, and triggers automatically when you plug an HDMI cable in. You should not need to do any manual switching of audio playback devices if you are using an R2. I do not know if this is available for the R1 as well - I only have experience with the R2.

On the R1 I had that happen when I installed new drivers. I did a reinstall. I think you can just uninstall the NVIDIA Hd Audio driver. Actually the last time, Windows automatically installed the HD audio driver after I had it unchecked in the driver installation. try to uninstall, then hook up the HDMI and see if Windows doesn't do its thing.

Do you have an R1 or an R2?

Would that apply to the M11xR1 where GPU switching is manual?

I could explore what options the Intel Integrated Graphic mode give the M11xR1 but I thought I'd be lazy and just ask.

Are we lesser mortals with an M11xR1 able to transmit audio via HDMI in Integrated Graphic mode?

I have a feeling there is no access to HDMI without activating Discrete Graphic card (GT335M)

For R1, HDMI doesn't work on Intel. Can't get anything out, and can't switch out of the Nvidia if I am using the HDMI. I use it for my TV, so if my TV is on the HDMI input and the M11x is on it shows a picture. I can't switch to integrated unless I switch the TV inputs.
