    Hey all,

So I just got my new M11X, I love it... perfect size... And great build...

Anyway, I just turned it on and have done all the initial setup stuff, anyway, I checked out the program "AlienAutopsy" and am wanting to download AlienRespawn through it via the link it gives you to the website.

Anyway, I clicked the link to allow it to check the computers setup but then it comes up saying "AlienRespawn cannot be installed because your hard drive does not have the Windows Recovery Environment."

.... So what does that mean?
How can I get a Recovery Partition set up?
and how do I get Alienrespawn to install?

I'm really wanting to have it all backed up so I have a little piece of mind before I go uninstalling all the Dell rubbish and updating and installing all of my stuff...

Please find some pics of the error and only one disk partition...
    Cheers all. :)

AlienRespawn should be installed when you get your machine... check properly, it should be there.

It's not there... I just type in the "Search" bar in the start menu, not there. There's AlienAutopsy, that's the only different thing I've seen since my M15X...

Where else would I look for AlienRespawn?

WAIT... There is a recovery partition, it's hidden...

But there's still no AlienRespawn or Dell DataSafe anywhere???

Anyone know why it's not pre-installed or know anything about the error message that's not allowing me to install it?

I have managed to download Alienrespawn on my M15X, what if I copied the setup to my new M11X, should it work?

I just got mine and noticed the same and intend to install the operating system onto my SSD when I get in.

Did you not get a CD with the Operating system on? Mine was in the box.

Just use the Windows 7 USB download tool and install the operating system from the CD onto a USB stick and install it from there.

Yeah, I got the OS disc... I was just being lazy I guess... I cloned it with Acronis though, so all good.

But yes, it's all good now.
I have the OS, I was just concerned that AlienRespawn wasn't pre-installed..\
Yeah, I'm planning to install a SSD later when I have a bit more money saved up. Will also be putting the 8GB RAM from my M15X into this 'lil tacker and be putting 16GB into my M15X... Woot!

    But all is good.

    Cheers all.

Glad you finally got your dream machine, T-Ravisty.

It'll be great for when you're travelling in the train :)

    Thanks, mate.

It's perfect for the train! Easy to carry, and now I can take a smaller bag...
And I'll be putting the 8GB ram from my M15X into it, so it'll be sweet. :)

It works fine, even with Maya... Renders fine, I only wanting quick on-the-go on it, and it lives up to it.

Hell, I'm even finding myself killing time with some games on the train now too. It runs Crysis and Deus Ex: Human Revolution fine... just tweak the settings a bit, but all good...

Gets a little hot, but doesn't matter.

    Cheers :)

    Nah, mate.

I have just opted to using Acronis instead to make a complete copy of the HDD.

ok i got alienrespawn to work and made a recovery usb.

normally to get alienrespawn you run alienautopsy which will direct you to the webpage to download DSLcheck.exe

if successful, DSLcheck would then direct you to the download link to alienrespawn.

now DSLcheck failed in my brand new "fresh out of the box"/stock M11x R3 (no windows recovery environment error). so instead i found the download link to alienrespawn_basic 300mb ( http://alwdownload.alienrespawn.com/alwdownload-en.html) and it installed successfully!

looks like you can bypass the DSLcheck and still have alienrespawn working as long as the recovery partition is INTACT.

found a similar case here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...et-alienrespawn-dell-datasafe-software-2.html

DSLcheck just directs you to the download link as shown in my previous post:
