My current mobile machine is a vaio Z. would an m11x be a better option for gaming? Are there any major issues with the newest 11x? I know that the former ones had serious issues even playing WoW.

It looks like the New R3 i7 would be better across the board except in hard drive and screen resolution. Any problem that usually comes up with the GPU is sorted out with a driver update. I know L4D2 is fixed with the recent beta driver but not sure about WOW.
Its really your call, I see no reason to upgrade.

Most of the issues are optimus related and those will effect any optimus notebook including the R3. The only real issue with wow and optimus currently is water becoming invisible past "fair" and sunshafts not working. But if you install 267.76 and run it in DX11 it is fine.

I agree that the R3 is better across the board. The cpu is a little faster than an overclocked R2, it get's superior battery life and the R3 GPU overclocked will destroy the R2 GPU when overclocked.
