    Hello,

I am new to this forum, sorry if i am asking the same question twice. I just got my 11mx and it came with the i7-640um 1.2ghz processor, my question is with the exception of the onboard graphics frequencys the i7-640m 2.8ghz processor appears to be compatible with the 640um's motherboard. has anyone tried a processor swap in an 11mx? or better yet specifically with the 640m or faster

    Thanks

It's not practically possible as the CPU is soldered on.

It's possible only in theory, so long as you a) get a BGA 1288 620M, b) handle double the amount of heat somehow (18W->35W TDP), c) have BIOS support and d) have the skills and equipment to reball the CPU. Assuming the R2 has the power circuitry already.

Better off overclocking that 640UM, you can get it closer to 620M speeds at best.

i was just looking at the intel processors again, and the 680um seems to be the best option as it uses the same power 18w
but for only a minor increase in speed overclocking mildy seems to be alot easer..

Yes it is a bit faster, on the 680UM I can do some pretty good CPU benchmarks. But while gaming, I don't think you see much difference.

I don't think changing CPU's is the best solution on the m11x.
