I picked up a 8gb kit of corsair ram the other day from new egg, its whats listed for my computer on corsairs web page. It doesnt seem to like my computer at all.

When I installed it first i got a few beeps and nothing else. So I re-seated it and everything worked. Installed a few windows updates and restarted, ram beeps again. So I removed it, put in one chip, all works, put the other chip in, all works, put both chips in all works.... ok cool. restart again to double check, beep beep beep... . So I turn off the computer again and just tap on the bottom. turn it on and it works now.

The ram will un-seat itself after I shut down and I have to tap the bottom just to get it to start up.

irs not common for RAM to "unseat" itself unless the slots are dammaged. have you inspected them for damaged pins etc. ?

i would think the RAM is just bad and i would send it back.

one more test you could do to see if your RAM slots are ok is instal your stock RAM and see how it acts. if you still keep getting the "beeps" at startup you might have damaged the slots when you installed the Corsair RAM. if not and your PC acts fine then you know the Corsair RAM needs to be returned.

The RAMs are unseating themselves? That's the oddest thing I've ever heard. I hate to second-guess you, but if it was me, I would make absolutely certain I had it seated properly. Then I would have a buddy check my work.

Seriously, I've never heard of properly-seated RAMs unseating themselves. You may have got a stick that's malformed or something.

I had the tech guy install it the first time when he was installing my new screen, it beeped for him so he re-seated it, still beeped. So we put the old stuff back in and it all worked good.

I didnt know if maybe he did it wrong so after he left I did it my self with the same results. Would beep after install, so I removed it and swapped the chips around, then it worked, I restarted and it beeped again. So I removed it and installed just one chip, everything worked, so I removed that chip and put in the other chip and it all worked. So I put in both chips and it beeped at me. I re-seated again and it worked. restarted and it beeped again. Turned it off and tapped on the bottom and it worked. I left the computer on cause I wanted to play a few games before I messed with it anymore.

Once running its all fine, but at start up it doesnt like to boot. Shows that I have 8gbs when I check the system too.

The old ram works just fine in there.

I send a request to newegg for a swap out, going to send them the ram and get a new set soon.

if the m11x beeps with new ram but not with the old ram then it means there's something with the ram....if you haven't figured that out yet LOL

Just wanted to make a little update on this. Got the new RMA'ed ram last night.... installed it and look here, beep beep beep.. aahhhh!!1!!!one!!1

It also corupted the drivers for my wifi and my graphics card some how... after it beeped I put the old back in and the wifi drivers were gone, and the computer would just go black when I tried to switch graphics cards. I installed my back up hdd and everything works (not the ram though)

SO now I have had 2 set that are DOA for my computer, soooo, do you think having the factory over clock set to on would cause the ram to not be able to boot up? I didnt get a chance to turn off OC and try it last night befor I had to go to bed to wake up for work at 5am.

If you have the R2 then yes, overclocking in the BIOS can affect if the Ram is running or not, particularly if you have it clocked way up around 160.

When you clock in the BIOS it also speeds up the memory core and therefore the ram, this is why sometimes different Ram will allow you to clock high, at the same time some ram will only allow you to clock slower before it gives you problems.

Try resetting the clock back to stock and setting it in there. It just might fix the problem you are having. If it does, then slowly work your clocks back up to where you are maxed out without problems and go with it OR send the ram back again and ask newegg if they can give you a different product saying that this one did not work as well.

It is possible it is not the ram and it is the over clock you have in the BIOS, however Ram is random and no pairs of sticks will work exactly the same so The only way to be sure would be to remove the clocks you have and see what happens.

Also, what CS is the ram? If its over 8 I think it will have that problem with the BIOS that is in the M11x. (I don't think the M11x can boot anything over 8)

EDIT: Ignore that last part, you posted the link I just didn't click it till after I typed this.

I have been reading and finding a few other people who are having the same problem as me with the same ram. None of them have found a solution other than getting more expensive ram chips... but it seems that the ram will work fine in dimm 0, but will not work in dimm 1....

I know that what I am about to say is nearly meaningless, because it is anecdotal evidence without any measurements...

But I will never buy Corsair memory again. I owned 2 sets of desktop DDR2 memory, that both died on me after 2 years. These two are the only two sets of RAM that I have ever seen in my life that have gone bad.

Yeah, I am starting to feel that corsair is not going to get my money anymore...
