Hi all, I recieved my shiny new M11x R3 on Friday which I am more than happy with.

My only gripe is that I have a dead pixel about 1 inch (maybe a little more) to the left of the alien head forehead of the wallpaper.

If I call Dell and mention it will anything happen?

Should I just return the laptop or threaten to return if they won't replace?

I'm in the UK so have 7 business days to decide with no questions asked.

Anyone have similar stories with good results?

I've had issues that Dell was prompt to fix:

1st R3 had warped keyboard and large gap at top of screen bezel. Alienware promptly replaced it with a new one.

2nd R3 had large chunk of dust in the center of the screen under the screen. Everything else was fine though so they just sent out a tech yesterday to my house who replaced it. Now i'm a happy camper.

I don't know how it works in the UK, but if you're happy with the rest of the laptop, the screen replacement by a Dell-certified tech is relatively painless. If they refuse to replace it, I'd return it personally as I don't believe a product priced this high should have obvious defects like that from the factory.

I've had to send it back, full refund, can't replace I'll need to re-order.

I tried to say there was more than 1 dead pixel but they wanted photographic evidence!!!!

I don't see why they don't just swap the screen.......

10 out of 10 for customer service
0 out of 10 for tech support

Odd! I just got a replacement system sent out when there was something wrong w/ the screen. I think it all depends on the rep you get; usually they push a replacement much harder, and don't want to give you a refund.

I'm in the UK, I wonder if it's easier for them to do it this way here.

Annoyed me though but system was ordered on 13th and has flicked into Shipped state today so will hopefully see it by 17th or 20th at the latest.....

Alienware has a pixel policy... has to be like more than 2, and in the center of the screen, etc. I know Apple has a similar policy, because my sister has a dead pixel on her macbook and they wouldn't do about it.

The pixel policy is hilarious. They will replace the LCD if there's dust under the screen and there's pixel limit for the LCD to be replaced LOL.

Is there any way to kill pixels ;)

Spending £1000 GBP + on a laptop you would hope there are ZERO problems

I had luck with a stuck pixel. Simply depressing firmly on the plastic cover through to the panel surface worked well enough. Generally there's not much you can do to fix a dead pixel though.

I don't want to fix I want to KILL

    >:-\

Hope fully #2 will be fine but if it also suffers only 1 dead pixel would be nice to add a few more and get tech support out.
