Is the m11x flat on a desk? If so raise the back of the laptop with some coasters, cd case or something similar and see if it helps. The feet under the m11x are so small they do not allow much airflow under the laptop. This helped the temps in my m11x no end

How hot is 'hot'? i.e. what temperature are you looking at. If you do not have an easy way to monitor your temps you can use a program such as HWmonitor to do so.

As long as your processors are not going over 74c or so at the hottest, it should be alright.

As a comparison, my system processors routinely show around 50c, and when gaming gets up to about 70c

it is a bit different these days. Systems seem to be set up to withstand more heat. I am used to the old processors too. Used to be, if I saw temps get above 60c I was worried. But these higher temps are standard for these pc's I suppose.

After my warranty runs out, I plan on fiddling with the cooling a bit and try to improve the cooling. But that is about a year off yet.

I believe the fans start to kick into higher speeds when temps go above 70C. You. Should hear what my M17x sounds like. I can swear there is a jet in my room. :D

When the fans sound like a jet, you know you've been playing wayyy too long :p

Generally, you shouldn't worry about heat THAT much on an alienware system due to them being extremely good at cooling.

However, within the next 2 months or so, consider replacing the thermal paste if things seem to heat up too much...
