Got myself a new R1 last week to replace my vostro 1500.
What a delight it was opening the box and unveiling my new alienware...ahh the sight, the smell, the touch...My girlfriend is not happy!

LOL. I hope you have as much enjoyment as I do/have/had from mine. Mind the grammar. :) I have not had any problems caused other than things I caused. And my little beast did a cross Atlantic flight! :p

Yes, I does not like glare what so ever, but people still stare when they see the small sleeve and you pull an Alienware out. Yes, people have had problems, i.e. the hinge thing but I just keep my cloth in there (the white one that was in there originally); the display sits more steady - probably more psychological than really being better. :)

And welcome to the forum. :)

    Thanks!
One question...how do you change the display driver on this machine?
I can't install any driver other than the one that comes from Dell.
Any help would be great as I can't seem to find a concrete answer in the forum
    Cheerie!

Look up the search term "modded INF".

Basically, that will let you download and apply driver updates found on the nvidia.com website, so you don't need to wait for drivers to be released through Dell.

Ahhhhh, I didn't see the "R1" part of your original post.

To my knowledge, the only driver you can use are drivers that specifically support switchable graphics, not drivers that support Optimus. I think you're stuck at 191 for the time being.
