    Hi Guys,

I received my M11x R2 on 2/5 and while setting up the wireless network, I found out that my system has been shipped with the Dell Wireless 1520(agn) rather than the 2x2 Mimo Wireless(I'm guessing that's the Intel 6250?).

Called up Customer Service and have just been running pillar to post to get this issue resolved.

They spent over an hour with me on hold to first figure out what card was installed in my laptop. Wouldn't it have just been easier to check the system configuration against my service tag?

They wanted to replace the card, which is not something I'm too comfortable with, for two reasons -

    1. I cannot be guaranteed that the replacement wireless card will be new. I've owned a few Dell products in the past and know that a replacement part is almost always a refurbished part.

    2. It's a new notebook, I don't want it being opened up within the first few days.

The options I'm being given are quite ridiculous to be honest.

    1. Cancel this order and return the system, to then re-order (the same specs)at a higher price than what I paid for.

    2. Exchange the system, in which case I will probably not get a new order number.....so I'm guessing it's going to be a "refurb".

    3. Cancel my order and forget about the whole thing.

Any thoughts from you guys would be helpful.

    the 1520 is a 2x2 MIMO card.

The Dell Wireless 1520 lists as a/g/n, while the Mimo 2x2 that was supposed to ship with my M11xR2 lists a/b/g/n ?

well, the Dell 1520 does support 802.11b networks, too.

I believe the card they shipped is the correct card, however, did you specifically select the Intel card (though I think Dell doesn't give the option of selecting a different WiFi card, anymore).

You're right. There was no option to choose a wireless card. It only showed up Alienware 2x2 Mimo Wireless a/b/g/n as the card.

When I spoke to customer care, they confirmed that the 2x2 Mimo was the Intel 6250.

    I'm totally confused now.

Well, is the card in your system actually creating any problems for you? The Dell 1520 is what most of our systems shipped with. Furthermore, I've hardly seen anyone with the Intel 6250 (though the 6200 is also common).

If it's not causing you problems, I wouldn't worry about it.

    you got the right card

it's the basic model that comes with the r2. so unless you paid more for an upgrade that's what you ordered.

There is a problem. The wireless connection I'm getting on it is horribly slow. I tried updating the drivers, but that didn't help. That's when I actually realised the wireless card in the laptop was the 1520.

The wi-fi on my other laptop and my BB are working much faster than on my M11x R2.
