Hey guys, im new to the site soo please reply even though im not yet that active.
I have just purchased an alienware M11x Laptop i have had it custom made with an i5 Processor and 3GB Ram, but for some reason the laptop isonly giving me 1.05 GHz of processing, i need a lot more cause im quite a gaming fan, and i cant even play such a small java based game known as 'minecraft'. If there is something i have to do on the computer to boost the processor please any help will be great.

Turboboost should be enabled by default, which bumps your speed up to 1.6 with two cores and 1.86 with one core whenever the system needs the extra power. You can also overclock by going into the bios and changing your bus speed up to 166 mhz. If you do overclock, make sure you use Throttlestop. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/524257-how-supercharge-m11x-core-i5-i7-um-cpus.html
Also, make sure you are using your Nvidia gpu for gaming. You can set this in the Nvidia control panel or right clicking a game's launcher and selecting the Nvidia gpu. Hope that helps. -
Don't worry about what the clock says, and I'd shy away from overclocking in your case (nothing personal, but you don't strike me as someone that should be experimenting just yet - give it a month).
The clock will rack itself up as it needs to on demand.
Now, the reason you can't play games is that the game is not using the built in NVidia chip set. That's easy to fix. Right click on the desktop and choose Nvidia control panel (or Nvidia whatever it's called) from the list that appears. Go to 3d settings and click "ADD". Use the file browser to locate the game you want to play, select it and then make sure the options you are looking at show the game as using the NVidia card. When it is, click Apply then go game your brains out.
With better drivers than the stock ones you can also right click on a game and choose "Run with Nvidia" to get it to run properly that way. The difference between running games on the built in integrated graphics chipset and the Nvidia one is night and day.
