    Hi Guys,

I have asked this question on the technical thread, but need more infor about the recommendations given.

Ever since I reinstalled the OS a few days ago, I have had this one unknown device exclamation mark showing in the Device manager. It's for the 'High Definition Audio Device'.

It was suggested that might be I lack the Intel Audio Driver for it, and I would like to find out where I could try downloading it. I currently do have audio on my system, but just would love to solve this puzzle.

Thanks alot for all those who can help me.

On Optimus based systems, always install the Intel HD Graphics driver first, followed by the NV GPU Driver.

    Reinstall this driver:

Once done, reboot. If you still have the missing driver in DEV MGR, reinstall your NV Display Driver.

If still an issue, reinstall the sound driver:

You're the Man! That did it.

But the curious this was when I downloaded the driver from the first link you gave, and installed it, the system popped up with a warning window informing me that the drivers I was about to install was older than the ones currently in my system. I ignored that, and went ahead and installed anyways.

Once the system rebooted, the missing driver issue went away. I did not need to download the other two links.

The unknown High definiton Audio device exclaimation mark is now GONE.

    Thanks again.

P.s. - I mistakenly tried to phone in to the esteemed Dell tech support since last Friday, and they could not solve this issue..and they are still are scratching their heads today...

Good to hear its resolved. My guess is you downloaded the Intel HD Graphics driver straight from Intel - this is why you probably received the pop-up warning concerning an older driver. Now, this may not have caused the funky driver missing behavior but it would explain the warning pop-up.

Unless you find you are running into a compatibility issue with a Dell driver, stick with what is on the Dell Driver Page for the 11xR3. :)

Closing thread since this is now resolved. Enjoy your system!
