    NVIDIA GeForce 260.63 Beta

    link

Windows 7 64 bit HUGE THANKS TO SKATEHOUSE!
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.63 BETA

Nvidia release that adds PERFORMANCE updates for the 400 series models and other various odds and ends. Full Details on nvidia site.

I will try to install but I bet I will need to update the INF file to install correctly. StevenX

    Benchmarks so far...
    Just Cause 2 (concrete jungle) 258.96 21.44/21.68
Just Cause 2 (concrete jungle)260.63 20.66/20.56 (not much difference) note.. while playing in game, high priority with oc settings I stood and looked at same spots and I am sure there was a 1 to 2 fps increase... May be snakeoil but not sure yet.
BFBC2 (single player bench that I run) 258.96 29-32 avg low settings
BFBC2 (single player bench that I run)260.63 29-30.8) avg low settings
Played BFBC@ for 1.5 hours last night after my son went to bed. I played on the 32 man conquest mostly Atacama which seems to push our setups the hardest. For the first time in a while I was regularly dropping into the teens. I am not sure why... What I dont want to say is that this driver is worse than 258.96 without playing a lot more. I think tonight I will find some dead servers find some places to run around (like a track) log the frames and do so on both drivers. Obviously it will not push the setup hard but give me an idea of min/max/avg without server latency (I will find a Texas server)

COD MW2 multiplayer 3 matches.. flies on it. 45-60 fps all very high 2AA

ps.. we have this posted before GURU3d.. LOL

Sweet.. i was in the middle of modding the INF file.. almost done. Downloading mobile version now. They weren't on the site when I hit the desktop version...Thanks!

REMINDER-- This may have that weird installer so you may be better off going through the hardware manager and updating the driver manually!

For those wondering, No built in support for the M11xR2. They need to be modded.

Shouldn't have any installer issues if modded correctly.

    My suggestion for these:

    For the Alienware M11xR2
Open the file NVDM.INF in the Verde driver folder

    Under

    Code:
    [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]
you need to include the following device id string (paste the following)

    Code:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.0CAF.01% = Section041, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CAF&SUBSYS_04651028
    Under
    Code:
    [Strings]
you need to include the following device id string name (paste the following)
    Code:
    NVIDIA_DEV.0CAF.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M"
Note: from 258.96 to 260.63 Section050 changed to Section041 another to try would be Section052.

I am trying to figure out what the difference is between Section041 and Section052.

    Section041 has:
    HKR,,Rm628700,%REG_DWORD%,1
    while Section052 does not

    Section052 has:
    HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Hybrid",DisableSmartHybrid,%REG_DWORD%,1
    HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Hybrid",HybridPlatformRole,%REG_DWORD%,1
    while Section041 does not

I have always assumed DisableSmartHybrid and HybridPlatformRole are Hybrid Graphics settings. HybridPlatformRole for Hybrid Graphics activates the hybrid power taskbar icon. Kinda strange. (Manual Switching?)

What doesn't make sense to me, is why aren't they giving support for the M11x R2? I mean, it's only a line or two of text.

How did you all get this installed? When I went to install this manually I have a list of 335Ms to choose from. I tried a couple and they bombed out.

Edit: I'm a idiot and put the the info in the wrong section. Everything worked. Thanks!

@all - I will utilize these for another few days. Mostly playing JC2 and BFBC2. I am just not seeing the results here. If the 4xx series get an increase, why not the 3xx series.

Thanks to all who keep posting information and bench marks. I have setup my nvidia control panel for all out speed and optimization so nothing is being overlooked.

Hello Folks, Here's the latest release from Nvidia with the modded inf included with added support for M11xR2. I have repack the file so you only need to extract it and run the set up within. Since the newer drivers have multiple Options like install as fresh or upgrade existing. I believe there is no need to use Driver Sweeper on these. I personally use the upgrade option and everything just work flawlessly. Enjoy...

Usual disclaimer, thou these are the official beta release from Nvidia except with the inf modded to add support for M11xR2, still it does not come with any warranty of any sort neither from myself, Nvidia or Alienware/Dell. So use/install them at your own risk.

Nautis and Kopicha - I had major issues getting it to install... regardless of setup or inf selection for R1. It actually errors out and I can't tell if it's due to the hidef audio or something else. It shows to be installed and i have un-installed it and installed it twice to repeat the issue. The driver works.. still testing now. Got some good frame rates in Farcry2. Best wishes, stevenX

Yeah the new installer is quite finicky. The correct INF filename now must also be included in DisplayDriver.nvi. It is also a bit more difficult to pinpoint issues due to an improperly modified INF.
I am still on the fence when it comes to 260.63 with my Hybrid Graphics (VGN Model) Vaio Z, for whatever reason the 260.61 telsa drivers seemed too work better for me.

Steven, If you want I can try to package up the Hybrid Graphics Master Set driver I am working on for 260.63 and send you the link. I have not added the M11xR1 portion or HDAudio stuff to the INF yet though. If/When you get it working properly I would love to include it in my Master Set.

I don't think PowerMizer is working correctly with 260.63 as idling is quite warm on my VGN Vaio Z (even after activating it manually). Few other issues with OpenCL and PhysX on my VGN Vaio Z.

I just installed the new Intel drivers from this thread and then installed the 260.63 install package that Kopicha had posted. Thanks to all for your hard work, I appreciate it. (+rep for Nautis and Kopicha).

I just wanted to report that I had to install the 260.63 beta driver 2 times before my M11xR2 recognized that it a Nvidia driver was installed. I upgraded from my old Dell nvidia driver (the most recent one posted by Dell) by installing overtop of it. The installer ran OK and said it was complete. I rebooted and the Nvidia logo never appeared in the system tray. I right-clicked on my desktop and tried to load the Nvidia control panel from there but it would say it was not found.

Then I reloaded the 260.63 driver a second time, again just installing overtop, and rebooted. The second time it worked.

    Thanks again!
    Stain

I like the new feature, where if you choose custom install you can perform a "clean install". I think it does a driver sweep as it restarts before completing the install and erases your previous settings.

^I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the fan is controlled by the bios (since the A05 bios update for the R1 changed the threshold value for it) and not the video driver, so any temperature change is coincidental.

Possibly not. Powermizer seems to be a bit wonky with these, I believe it is disabled by default. I suggest downloading Powermizer Manager and adjusting settings there. I also suggest downloading GPU-Z or Nvidia Inspector and keeping an eye on the clock speeds for downclocking and things. Nvidia Inspector has an area where you can see the current power state of the GPU (P-State).

I have installed the 260.63 Nvidia driver repack that kopicha posted, as well as the intel drivers that nautis posted. For some reason, my M11x r2 thinks it has two monitors attached, one for each display adapter.

Its now causing the intel adapter to show as "monitor 1" and the nvidia on "monitor 2". It causes me to have an "extended desktop between the monitors. The problem being, I only have the one laptop LCD display attached, so the extended desktop goes far far off the screen.

    Help?

Intel driver is for Intel HD, the one that its integrated in the i core series.

I did to had the problem with the extended desktop, I modified the configuration on the windows control panel, It never occurred to me to use the intel panel. I just checked and the problem seems to persist when rebooted.

you can modify the settings in the resolution part from the control panel (Im not sure its resolution, my windows is in Spanish), there the settings is set to extend the desktop to a non existent panel.

I tried doing this, but I cannot find where to make the extended desktop non-existent. this is not a major problem for me, but sometimes i freak out when i cant find my cursor when i move it to much to the left and it disappears. So if anyone can help me out, Id appreciate it
The extended monitor appeared when i installed the 260.63 driver, clean sweep.

I am utterly devoted to NVidia for this very reason; they always update their drivers and they are easy to download and install. For the last 6 or 7 years I have not bought a desktop or laptop that does not have NVidia graphics and I always upgrade my desktops with NVidia graphics cards.

The issue was first reported in April and they released several "fixes" in June which they apparently did not test since they did nothing... When they "confirmed" a fix in July but wouldn't let the driver out for beta testing and instead pushed it back for release concurrent with some fixes with more modern games.

Now it turns out their confirmed fix is a dud too... Their confirmation process was probably someone standing alone in a field running around when the issue is a glitch with rendering multiple NPC/PC models. Poor testing and a refusal to let actual players test out the betas since they apparently don't have a copy of FFXI active despite being the sponsored graphics card. It's sad a four year old Radeon card can run this game better than an SLI GTX480 setup when nvidia has had since April to fix this.
