Hey everyone i just received my M11x R1 a few days ago and i'd like to know if i got a pretty good machine.

To start great laptop perfect size and vary portable for me. The lights are awesome and the graphics card is just right for what i need.

The things I'm not sure about, The right side of the screen tilts up more than the left I'm guessing it has to do with the hinges.

The keyboard pushes in from the center where the "F, G" key is mostly.

Minor scratches but i knew it had to come with some seeing it was refurbed.

Its frozen twice on me but I'm sure its not the laptops fault

what id like to know is for a refurbished laptop did i get what it was worth or for a refurbed laptop should it not have these cons?

i'm not trying to be a snobby unappreciated kid just like to know i got what i paid for thank.

Also i got the m11x r1 4gb ram with 500gb hdd for 600$ after tax from the outlet during the sale.

Hmm, I just picked up a refurb R1 from Dell Outlet with the exact same specs (4gb ram, 500gb hd) and your post is making me nervous.

And now I see a brand new R2 with 8gb ram (!) and 320gb hd for only $150 more and I'm wondering if I should have sprang for that, despite all Optimus issues I read about from a few months ago (have they been fixed yet??) and the 1-2 hr hit in battery life.

Sorry--didn't mean to hijack your thread but I'm curious what you and others think about this.

Where are the scratches on your R1?

It shouldn't freeze on you if it continues call dell ASAP. Nice unit other than that. I have the R2 and just disabled the on board and just run the 335m.
I still get over 2.5 hours batt: Its plugged in most of the time and all my games run on the 335m.

Yes i find it strange that is freezes if it happens again ill be sure to call them. also i cant answer for the R2 but i love my r1 sofar besides the cons i listed. Their is one pretty visible scratch right by the front left light and a small scratch on the left side vga port. like i said the computer runs great and ive only had it plugged in thus far, still looking for answers.

    I'm curious:

If a certified refurbished comes with scratches (a non-scratch and dent unit) will Dell send a new factory built replace OR upgrade because of the dissatisfaction. What about major technical issues?

I bought a certified refurbished M15x and it had a couple of deep scratches on the lid and a 1mm sized paint chip on the corner of the bottom base. Called Dell and they read me some quote that certified refurbished models may have cosmetic blemishes but have been tested to function 100%. I told the rep that my laptop should have been listed as scratch and dent instead, but he kept reiterating the same quote. I didn't let it bother me too much, but I found a good deal on new panels on e-bay and went for that. In retrospect, I should have returned it to them and ordered something else. Weird thing is I bought a scratch and dent XPS m1210 a few years back and it was absolutely perfect except for some really small scuffs on the bottom of the screen bezel.

If you're buying another laptop from Dell then you won't get hit with the 15%restocking fee but if you just want to return it for a refund then you will be charge with the fee.

If you tell them you're want to exchange the laptop, you should be fine.
