I had my eyes on the M11x for a while now.. since its initial release (heck I had my eyes on any Alienware notebook for a few years :)

I saw a deal on RedFlagDeals.com: Canada's Largest Bargain Shopping Community! Find Canadian Deals, Coupons, and Freebies!
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/479932-great-price-alienware-m11x-deal-canadian.html

and called Dell on April 28th and ordered the unit. Also extended to 1 year advance warranty and ordered the AW neoprene sleeve. With my EPP, the cost came out to approx $1050 CDN (before tax.) I was given an ETA of May 17.

On May 5th, I was surprised to get an automated email from Dell stating that my M11x have been shipped. Still expecting an ETA of May 17th, and becasue I live in canada, I cursed myself for not asking for next day delivery .. and now expecting to wait almost 2 weeks before the unit would arrive.

on May 6th, I was very surprised to get a call from Purotlator Automated system stating that it would be deliver to my house on May7th
My wife was nice enough to stay home and work from home on the 7th to recieve the unit :D :D (future note to myself, dont bother or paying extra for next day delivery when you can get it in 48 - 72 hours )

So on Friday night, i removed McAfee and install MSSE, installed my 2 favorite games (LOTRO and TF2.)

I was using gateway P-7811FX to game with.. and what a difference!! With 3 little kids, I dont get much game time in during the day (considering my desktop have been taken over by the 3 kids hence the P-7811FX) I usually play the game while in bed, while the wife is sleeping. This is a great laptop for gaming while sitting in bed.

Most of the setting on LOTRO is set to high, and I no longer feel like I am in a sauna while playing. My wife usually complained about the excess heat comign from the P-7811FX, but with this little baby.. I gamed for 3-4 hours Sat\Sun straight with no heat issue.

I will need to get used to the smaller keyboard, but it didnt impact my gaming. Loved the AlienFx.

I didnt really noticed the fan being loud. Sure, I can hear the quiet humming sound.. but if you ever gamed with P-7811FX with the Fan spinning .. the sound of the fan on the M11x is like night and day compared to the P-7811FX

The quality of the AW is excellent. I didnt see any defect, gaps, etc.
Some might considered 4.5 lbs not light, but coming from someone who used a 17" laptop that was approx 9 lbs and does his gaming on his lap.. it is a BIG differnece.

the screen is a BIT reflective. ..(luckily I dont play during the daytime.. :D )
and I will probably need to get used to the difference when gaming in 1920x1200 and 1366x768. i did have to move most of my toolbars around in LOTRO as I now have less reat estate to play with.

the M11x sleeve is nice as well.. the M11x fit nicely in the sleeve. What can I say.. its a sleeve with the AW logo

Overall, i would recommend this laptop for casual gamer.

My experience have been very positive from ordering/shipping to the first 48 hours with this notebook.

Congrats! I would say most of us have had great experiences with our Alienware. Sure, there are a few unlucky ones, but overall we enjoy our machines.

Heck, my M17x is one of the only big ticket items I did not feel buyers remorse over hehe

Hey, good to see it works great! If you have it, I'd recommend connecting external keyboard+monitor at home. That works great for me. If only IF ONLY it had a docking station... :( :( :(

Nice to hear. Congrats. Also played AC2 for 3 hours in OC mode with no issues. Were it not for the reflective screen, the m11x would have been perfect. For $800, its a steal.

That sounds awesome. I am so glad I took time off this week. Willing the FedEx man to get here faster (and if I miss it, I live 15 mins. away from the sorting center near the airport, so I'll just go pick it up if possible hehe)

Glad you like your M11x. I'm not a fan of really small laptops, just not enough power (except in the case of the M11x), I don't like the small keyboard, I hate small screens, and I like having them in my lap and I'm such a big guy it's actually uncomfortable having such a small device on my lap, lol. I usually use 15" laptops, but I think I might get a M17x.
