The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Right click on your Sypnatic Pointing Device in bottom right -> properties -> device settings -> check box "disable internal device...etc.."

    1) Go into Windows Control Panel --> Mouse --> Synaptics tab. You should be able to do it there.

    2) Yes, it is Fn+F6.

    3) Sorry, don't know what drivers to use. There are other threads out there that would be able to answer this question better.

Maybe you don't need to disable it... you can adjust touchpad sensitivity and controls in the Command Center with Alien Touch. If you play with that a bit you may be able to fix your problem of accidentally hitting it while typing.
