Ok, so my M11x has been running perfectly for the past 2 weeks, until recently.
So I was going to move my Laptop from the living room to my room, so I unplugged it. To my surprise, the laptop shutdown. I tried to turn it back on, but it wouldn't. So I plugged the laptop back in, and what do you know, it turns back on. And so I decide to unplug it again, and it turns off again.

    Can anyone help me please?

Also, has anyone else experienced these issues?

Ya think? Or do you think it could be something with BIOS? I have heard that you can actually disable the battery or something like that in the BIOS.

Press the battery charge indicator button on the bottom to see if it's charged.

EDIT: And no, you can't disable the battery in BIOS. You can however, turn off charging of the battery though. You would have had to have turned that feature on if it turns out that it's enabled.

That's not good. I'm guessing you're going to need a new motherboard. You might try re-seating the battery plug.

I think you can set the battery to not charge in the bios

You mean as in the battery charger?
How do I exactly go about doing that.

Take the bottom cover off. You'll see the battery cable.

Oh....well, I guess I will just give dell a call.
I mean, I know how to take it apart and probably know how to disconnect/reconnect it, but I don't wanna take my chances.

There's absolutely no risk. Other than the fact that you have screws, it would be the same thing as opening a phone and pulling the battery...

The chances of it helping were pretty much nil anyway. Call Dell and see what they say to further troubleshoot.

This happened to my old HP laptop and I had to replace the battery as it could only keep the laptop charged for like a minute.

Well, I suppose this was obvious from the start, but I have confirmed it is a hard ware issue. I booted up in safe mode and it shut down when I unplugged it. Well, I best be calling dell soon.

UPDATE: It's working perfectly again! I have done absolutely nothing to it and it is working again! It doesn't shut down when I unplug it!!!

This is awfully strange though, I'm gonna see if they can send a tech my way and find out if something is actually wrong with my laptop,

    That's great. Weird behavior!

BTW, how do you use the battery indicator? I see it in the bottom of the laptop, in the middle right, but how do you make it light up?

okay so i know this is an old post and all. but im having this problem NOW. like literally two days ago the computer was fine, i've been bringing it around to school and such. Then im home plugged in gaming, and this morning RANDOMLY i unplug it to bring to another room and it turns off. I can't turn it back on without plugging it in, either. And YES the battery is fully charged. Its as if the charger short circuits the whole laptop when i unplug it! please help me :(

I'm digging this forum up because i googled my problem and this would help instead of making a whole new one i guess.

Call Dell and have them assist you in determining if it's a defective AC adapter or something else.

I had this problem in the past, and I think someone mention it already, but just take the bottom cover off and replug the battery. The wires must have either gotten loose or maybe you got a defective battery, either way, you'll find out.

    EDIT:

okay so one quick thing, it says my battery is fully charged, and i could have sworn this worked two days ago. and it's been plugged in since, so i don't have the least bit of a clue why it would suddenly stop working and turn off my laptop when unplugged, as if there is no battery. I tried the fn+f2 option and nothing working.

I also did as you said and unscrewed the bottom, quickly unplugged the battery and plugged it back in to see if maybe it came loose on accident, which it did not. I'll probably call Dell when i get back home from school to see what the stupid and unfortunate defect is, and probably get some bad help on the problem. :/

    Thanks anyways :(

any more suggestions or solutions are HIGHLY appreciated though.

Yeah that sounds like you got a defective battery. As far as I know the fn+f2 option has nothing to do with this problem since you can't disable/enable the battery, the only thing you can do is disable/enable the CHARGING via bios.

If you want to you can try unplugging the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds then plug the battery back in and try again. That's the only other method I know, don't know if it'll help but worth a shot =\.
