It may be in production but whatever your estimated delivery date is, you can bet with certainty that is when it will arrive. Mine is in production as well with a 5/18 delivery date. And they WILL stick to that date ;)

If things haven't changed from past deliveries, Dell usually plays it safe with the EDD. You guys should expect it considerably earlier. People often would get their computers about a week earlier than the EDD on average.

At least that's how it was not too long ago.

Yup, you can generally deduct one week off the estimated date. I've had three different laptops show up at my door one week early from Dell/AW :)

Not really. They do try very hard these days to deliver before the estimated date. A few of mine all arrived before the due date. It's a way of trying to give customers a warm happy feeling about Dell.

That said, don't ever expect production phase to fly by. The production phase includes building the picking list, having the warehouse fullfill the pick order (a couple of days), build the machine, installing software, a burn in period of a couple of days minimum, packaging it up and then shipping it from the construction base to the shipping base. Until it hits the shipping facility (and it can take up to a week to travel from China to the distribution plant after its built) then it will remain in production.

It is the Scotty Protocol! You always pad your estimate and come in early. No one gets upset when something arrives early, only when its late. So, if you think you can accomplish a task in two weeks, you estimate 4. That gives you leeway for unexpected complications and still have the opportunity to complete your task early.

That way you look competent and impress your customers! :)

    My EDD is 5/17!

I got my R3 the morning they came out. When I checked out my EDD said 5/13. My EDD now says 5/16. Im counting on them shipping early because I go back overseas on the 14th! My M15x was shipped a week early when I ordered it.

    NICE!

i was thinking this over the weekend, that a lot of people might get their m11x's early since they just came out the should start building them right away, and the people that get their's built first will get their's shipped right away, while the ones who get built last will arrive closer to the EDD

    16 GB RAM, 256 SSD...

    no, I kid, I kid. :p

    The meat and potatoes:

    Core i7-2617M
    GT540 graphics with 2.0GB
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
    500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio - Software Enabled
    Internal Bluetooth 3.0

I would like to pick up an SSD at some point soon. Not quite sure which yet; a rep confirmed SATA 3 is supported.

I have an EDD of 5/13 - got it the day it was finally announced.

My R1 is still going strong - but REALLY excited about the upgrade.

    Went w/

    2617 i7
    Red
    6gb ram
    750gb HDD
6250 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology with WiMax (don't know if i will ever use the wimax, but it was so cheap to upgrade to)
    Accidental Damage Service, 1 Year
    Bluetooth 3.0

    $1,180.36, after tax

I think all they come w/ the GT540m w/2gb of RAM, correct?

    If you go with the i7, it's 540m 2GB (i5, is 540m 1GB).

    Grats on the new system!

Nope, I got a black one. Yeah, not positive about the SSD, but due to Sandybridge specs, it'd be very odd if it wasn't supported. We shall see! :)
