Well, it has been a month now, and I love it. I love everything about it. It is by far the best gadget I have ever owned.

One of my initial concerns was the screen size, seeing as I never owned a small netbook before, but it is surprising how quickly you get use to it, and even prefer it, 15inchers just look cumbersome now.

I would recommend this laptop to anyone still sitting on the fence. It is a thing of pure beauty, and plays any game I have tried like a dream.

    Thank you.

    One very happy owner!

which one did you get, r1 or r2?

I felt the same way when I got this little beast. I used to prefer 15inchers until I got my r2.

Same here, I have 10 days with my m11x R2, very few problems, nothing important, the size is perfect, and my I have a 15.6" laptop at work, now I bring the m11x there

Optimus problems, only the first day, nothing that a few post of this forums did not help...

This is by far my perfect laptop! I do love everything about it! If only it didn't have the dredded hinge issue hanging over it, it would be perfection! :)

There is really only one complaning thread. That is the one about the hinges, it says a lot about a computer when there is mainly only one thing that people complain about.

There is only "one" complaining thread because ALL OTHER COMPLAINT THREADS are erased constantly by BatBoy, the moderator.

I can't blame him because that's how this forum runs, but the administrators should keep in mind that doing so provides a very skewed outlook about how "great" this machine is. It provides a false idea that this machine is reliable.

If the complaining thread is 1000+ post, and you got like 10 or 20 "I just got this machine, it's great" threads with 10 posts, don't you see something is wrong with it?

For what it's worth, I loved the machine too until the hinges failed, I expect to see you soon in that other thread.

Yep. BatBoy cleans up the other threads. Closes them, and doesn't even merge them into the main topic :(

At one point, we had multiple threads on the hinge issue and it was taking away from other items. Not everyone who owns an 11x has hinge issues - please keep this in mind. I am NOT saying that there is not a problem, just that some owners who frequent the forum do not share this same concern.

In the end, this comes down to the forum rules -

Cross posting applies to multiple threads as well. This is why we limit this.

    I always leave a re-direct.

In the future, if you have an issue with any moderator action, take it to PM rather than posting - no reason to hijack the OP's thread. You can PM any mod, including the Lead Moderator.

    Thanks.

I dont have that hinge problem....Like Op said It plays every game that you put on it. It happend to me too! Wanna play crysis? You can with Enthusiast settings. Want to play team fortress you can. I'm really new with computers but this is one of the best I've seen of this size. I know macs are better In someways...And many had problems with Dell in general But I still recommend this laptop to people that want ''games to go'' because this is the purpose of this gadget =)

    Cheers

Yep, Same here- loving my lil' M(onster)11x! Going on about 2 months now.
No hinge problem, OC'd to 166 without issue.

Here are some games I've been playing; all at high, max quality or combinations of them- i.e. textures, character models, lighting, etc may range from high, very high or max within the same game- at full resolution. Meaning I don't feel I've sacrificed at all for portability!

    - COD: Modern WF2
    - Borderlands- all expan. (just started and I'm totally hooked!)
    - Left for Dead 2
    - Everquest 2 (have to turn things down a bit while raiding)
    - Bioshock 2
    - Battlefield: Bad Co. 2

Next up, I plan to upgrade the HDD to a Hybrid (500GB Momentus XT or larger) or SSD if I can justify the expense as I'll need at least a 256GB. Just have to get a better understanding of how to retain or rebuild the restore partition on a new HD.

    Cheers!

    See my post here -
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...d-drive-how-do-i-get-respawn.html#post6832040

While I have not tested it, should work. Clone the existing drive to the new drive and then do a clean install to the C: partition only. Once done, use the link(s) provided to reinstall DSL or AlienRespawn.

    or,

Use DataSafe local or AlienRespawn to create a USB Recovery drive. Once done, install the new drive, boot to the USB and perform a recovery. Once complete, you can then perform a clean install of the OS to the C: partition ONLY. Once done, reinstall DSL or AlienRespawn using the links I provide in the linked post. This will probably be the fastest route.

Whoa, This is great Thank you! I've been doing a bit of research here and there on this forum regarding upgrading my HDD and getting that restore partition back the way is should be, but this really simplifies if for me.

    Thanks again man!

I have had my M11x since May and still enjoying it immensely and I even had to go through the hinge problem and get my screen replaced. Dell/Alienware was great about getting that done quickly :)

Plays WoW and SC2 quite nicely :)
