I use my m11x alot at night, in a dark room. The light up keyboard is FANTASTIC in that environment. But I do wish I could make the lcd screen even more dim (it would save my eyes, the battery, and still let the better half stay asleep)

I had a pda (Axim) that allowed the "contrast" to be software adjusted which allowed you to almost shut the screen off. Is there such an animal for the m11x?

Back in the even older days (of an Apple II) there would be some memory location to "poke" with a value between 0 and 255, or something... but I suppose nothing could be that simple today...

There is a great piece of software called "flux" if you want your screen to be easier on your eyes at night and stuff, then you will love it!

Does flux actually allow you to decrease the screen brightness below the lowest level, or is it just an auto-adjust-brightness program?

I certainly doesn't adjust the brightness below what is already possible through windows, but it DOES adjust the colors on the screen... whites become more yellow or even a bit tan (I can't get too technical because I am marginally color blind). And it has an override in case you are doing something that requires "true" color for awhile.

I does help. I was hoping for something like AlienFX Lite, that actually allows more color, so I can "dim" the keys to almost nothing by mixing blue and black. But it does help... and the price is definately very right!
