    Hey everyone,
is it worth it to upgrade my HDD to a Momentus XT?
Will I really see a difference from my actual hard drive?
Or is it better saving up for a smaller ssd?
    Thanks everyone

The Momentus XT works really well but only with programs that are used over and over like the OS. It is not as fast as a SSD is with everything. But it is much larger for storage. If it is for your m11x the SSD will be way faster but be aware you will have to be very carefull on space. One nice trick is to go to your page file on the HD and shrink it down to 512 mb it will be set to about the size of your memory. Which you do not need and can be as much as over 7gig's as in my case. It will help and is not needed in modern computers with plenty of memory. Luck on your choice. ;)

I just down graded to a momentus XT from a SSD. ( i needed more space) and It is livable but the SSDs are amazing in speed and performance.. I will have to wait a bit before I drop a grand on a 512GB SSD.. but the moments XTs are better than the regular drives be a good amount.. so it is a good move

I had a Momentus XT for a while, wasn't overly impressed with the gains, even though it was faster than a standard hard drive. Definitely recommend going with a 120gb SSD if you can afford to have a smaller amount of space.

Bigger capacity or better performance? I have the Momentus XT and it has a 104MB max transfer rate. A SSD will be much faster but a huge drop in space. If you want both, be ready to shell out nearly $1,200 dollars.

I'm hoping the Q67 chipset on the R3 will allow SSD caching and that either the mini-PCIe slot is either USB3.0 or an actual PCIe interface, which would allow you to have your cake and eat it too.

Most people can live without the ODD or use an external drive or if they're lucky, can use a miniPCIe SSD. If so, it is much better to go the SSD/HDD over a hybrid HDD IMO.
