    Hey all,

Anybody know what type of mods that are out there for the m11x. A friend of mine was talking about a touch screen mod. Also, is the cover for the LCD glass, or plastic?

    Cover is plastic.

I have thought about some mods, but the only thing I would want to do is either custom paint, or buff the semigloss finish on my r1 to a nice gloss.

Plastic ehh? That kinda sucks, I remember seeing on the Alienware website that it said it was glass, as well as a few other sites. I guess some people don't know the difference.

I might have to find myself a screen protector for it then. I don't want it to get scratched up.

Nope, its very much plastic, the lcd it self may have glass on it, but the clear cover is plastic.

I just wish there were an IPS screen replacement out there. I was really bummed when they announced the R3 had the same crappy screen. It's the only thing that holds my R2 back in my mind.

As for what you can do, I recommend the matte screen protectors. They make a big difference in usability.

I don't really recommend using a matte screen protector IMO. I doubt the laptop is going to be used outdoors so it defeats the purpose. If the sun blinding oyu from indoors, move to a different place.

The R3 supposedly has a worse LCD than the R2 actually, but then again it is preferrence.

the r3 uses the same screen as the R1 and R2.
also some people actually do use their laptop outdoors. and the matte screen protector can help.
its not like you can "move to a different place" outside where the sun is.
i use my m11x on my patio when its nice outside, or i use it in the city sitting at a restaurant table outdoors, and finish up some work.
