I have an Alienware 11xr3 with only 2gb of ram and I'd like to upgrade to 8gb. I bought two 4 gb stick ( DDR 3 1333 ) but when I install the sticks the laptop doesn't work. Anybody has the same trouble?

Did you get the corsair kits that sell for like 80$?

If so return it now, it wont work with our computers.

No, my new memories are not "Corsairs", are "Kinsgton" and when I install them I have not any beep. The laptop just turn on and nothing else happen, no bios and the system doesn't go up.

Yeah I saw that thread when I was searching for RAM reviews (after I had already bought the Corsair but before trying installation). You have an R2 vs an R3, right? The motherboards are different between the two revisions. That might be the reason for the incompatibility?

I'd open up the laptop and make sure they are seated properly - in at an angle then down until the two arms click into place... apologies if you've done that already.

I got the r1, I thought it might have something to do with the OC set in the bios. I turned it off but never got a chance to reinstall the ram chips to try with OC turned off in the bios.

Could you please explain to me how to turn the OC set off in bios?

For the r1 only, you turn it on, push f2 (?) to enter set up. when the bios screen pops up you just use the arrow keys to go down to the overclock option. Put it on enabled.

This only works for the r1 though.
