A relative of mine was having this problem. Go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia II\Saves

Edit your videoconfig file to look like this:

    -3 -25 1366 768 1 0 0 1

I heard there was quite the complaints about the PS3 version having lost most of the foliage/grass effects, as well as the blood puddles when you shoot your enemies. I just got my console copy last night, I may redownload the demo and try to tweak and compare on my R1, just for curiosity's sake. :)

My family also has a dual core AMD desktop system in our den with 2x SLI 8800 GTS 512 cards. I might stick it on there just to see how she runs. For an aging machine, its run any game I've thrown at it so far. Will update with any pertinent experiences as needed.

I'm trying to load Mafia 2's demo on Steam right now, but I can't get it to load. I just get a logo screen with the NVidia and Physx, game info, etc. but it minimizes to the taskbar and refuses to stay fullscreen. I'm going to try downloading the latest Physx software for my R1...I should have the latest A01 Gfx driver from Dell, but I'll redownload them anyway.

did you try removing all the drivers and game and doing it from scratch?
remove all your video drivers (nvidia, physx and intel) and do from scratching using the newest drivers from this forum, including the one from kopicha.

    my cfg looks like this

    0 0 1366 768 1 0 0 1

yeah, I just did a re-install of my latest R1 drivers. It worked for me. But I can't get a very good framerate with the 335M and had to lower the settings all the way. 1280x720, 20 fps avg, no antialiasing, no physx, low geometry detail, normal audio quality. Even overclocked both my CPU on the motherboard and the 335M. (see my cpu/gpu-z screenshots) I suppose us m11x owners are out of luck... :( Oh well, I'm happy with the console version.

This is the same problem I had.
Change all the 1's to 0's in the Video Config file others have shown, then go into the game in wjndowed mode and make sure Ambient Occulsion is turned off.

Install the latest drivers from Nautis
Set the game to full screen and it should work.

After I got the game to run full screen I noticed that it would go back to crashing in the same fashion as quoted above when Ambient Occulsion is turned on.

    Hope that helps.

Could it be the I-Core CPU's make the difference? I only have the SU4300 on my R1. Maybe I should check my task manager, make sure I don't have any "junkware" running. I'm kinda surprised; I used NVidia's overclock tools plus IObit's GameBooster program. I could run Red Faction Guerrilla with ambient occlusion on and still get a decent 30-something framerate. I think I'll Falcon Punch it! :D j/k
