So my hinges broke once, and i partially fixed them by superglueing them and now it broke down again. Ofc i am out of warranty, and i am really pissed. I am based in greece, where dell here doesnt even know what alienware is. Can i order the replacement parts from somewhere since i am a tech myself and replace them ?

If someone has info about that, or has spare parts to sell me ( yes tech from overseas, please help me ) please please drop me an email to [email protected] and i will pay for them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Bad advice.

Dell will repair your hinge free of charge regardless or warranty status.

    Call Alienware, not dell
Alienware : The Ultimate Gaming Machine?

Or chat with support on dells site.

They have shipped the parts you'll need, (which include a redesigned hinge and a display assembly) to some people.

See the first post in this thread for part numbers and details regarding the repair policy.

    Good luck!

Yea but i disassembled the laptop by myself the first time and superglued the hinges, and i am based in greece and dell here has no clue of what alienwares are. I dont really want to ship my laptop back to california where i bought it to get a fix. I should try calling them and see what they have to say.

Edit : i called alienware and they told me the whole assembly costs 325$. Are they kidding me ? For a laptop i payed 1240$ and it was their design who sucked i am suppose to pay 325$ more ?

I would still rather to get some replacement parts. All that i need is the backplate as i see it, is it that hard to find it ?

I don't know of any dealers of alienware/dell parts - besides Dell.

And Dell is charging too much for the part. They should be replacing it for you for free. I would email customer service again.

That should be fixed under the "recall"

    Or just create your own.

Get some sheet metal, tin snips, and you're golden.

It doesn't matter how much the assembly costs. They have guaranteed all out of warranty owners a one-time fix at no cost. Call again.

Weird, I'm out of warranty and they let me use the new hinge model. You don't need warranty for the hinges. Well, unless you break the new hinge design then you're doomed. You are better off not getting 2nd hand replacements then getting a new hinge system with no warranty needed from Dell/Alienware.

Alienware will fix it for free. You just have to send the computer back to them. Call and they will send you a prelabled box to send it back to them fedex. As MUCCHAN (repped) pointed out in his reply, READ the first page of "http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/560021-m11x-r1-r2-new-hinge-design.html#post7224809".
