I'm having trouble getting Fraps running in some of my games. Fraps appears to be fine in some things, but when it comes down to Steam exclusives it just refuses to work.

It appears that the problem is not exclusive to me either: Fraps stopped reconizing TF2 - Steam Users' Forums

Are you running EVGA precision or Xfire or anything else that would interfere with the Steam and/or FRAPS overlay?

I've had issues similar to this before (On more than one occasion) & my problem usually is that I'm trying to run some combination of Steam, Xfire, Mumble, & EVGA Precision & it causes some conflict with the overlay.

I've not run into this issue with the videos I've been making of on the M11x. Thanks for the heads up though, nice to know what it is at least, when it comes up.

I was running Raptr but I closed that and disabled Steam in-game. Unfortunately the problem still persists. Like I said earlier, it's only in Steam exclusive games, I have Monday Night Combat on Steam and Raptr, Steam and Fraps all work together fine.

I can still use the demo recorder in Steam games so it's not that big of a deal, but it would be nice to get it running properly.

EDIT: Interesting fix, I disabled the Steam overlay, rebooted forgetting I had disabled it, then when I went back to Portal 2 the Fraps overlay was magically there. Furthermore reenabling the Steam overlay didn't break it.
