Today, I decided to reinstall my R2 and when I went to Dell Driver Download site, the Battlefield 3 driver (285.62) was listed on there.

    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=483248

I will tested it right away when I back home. It has been loooooooooong time since the last update :D The older is 134mb and the newer one is 242mb compared to 191mb of official nvidia driver.

If this has been discussed elsewhere, please close my thread.

So has anyone tested these drivers yet? What features could they possibly add with that extra 50mb?

Doesn't the Dell driver contain both Nvidia and Intel drivers?

Thanks for posting this news, that driver somehow fixed a major issue i was having with the release of the same driver off Nvidia's site. Kinda strange, does Dell modify drivers to run on there systems? Cause its funny that the same exact driver, from a different site fixed the problem like that.

I don't consider that being able to use them, it eliminates one of the biggest selling points of the laptop.

An Extra 50mb to their driver may do something :D What major issue did you get with the nvidia driver?

Anyone knows how to make media player classic run with nvidia chipset, not the Intel one?

Try the drivers on the R1. Doubt it performs any miracles

Might give the modded opti drivers a try too. 3 screens baby!

In the end tho chasing drivers is often a waste of time unless that particular release solves a particular issue. How many R1 users are needin BF3 specific drivers?

I currently have the Optimus homemade ones , but they aren't working great for me ( color problem , and it's not like switchable , even at low power , the GT335 is still on )

I may try thoses drivers on R1 to see if they work , but i got no hope :(

The Seagate firmware didn't recognize my Momentus XT, it must be for Dell-specific drives.

Don't know if " ADHurt " is from here , but thanks for +1 !

R1 User , please go and comment my Thread or create a new one to spam them , but Dell / AW NEEDS to ear our voice , a high end laptop is should NOT be obsolete like this !

Or change us our R1 to R3 , no problems -_-

The firmware update is only for Dell bundled drives. Apparently this Dell update is the same as the SD28 update for Seagate branded drives.

If you tried to update from Windows instead of DOS and are getting an error message that quickly pops up every time you reboot your machine , just run the Seagate SD28 update and it will fix it.

Horrible driver, I'm lagging extremely hard in BF 3 thanks to it. I'm sticking with 280.26, unfortunately, because I would like to have some good update (even if 280.26 is a great driver).

Yeah I can confirm that after installing these drivers performance in BF3 drops from time to time from 30-40 fps to 10-20 with horrible input lag, tearing etc making it unplayable

Dell has failed hard here, releasing a driver for BF3 which is way worse than the another before it.

Well, actually, I also experienced mouse lag from 275.xx to 285.62 (Dell and nvidia as well) I thought it because my R2 is not powerful enough to handle BF3 monster. I will wait until the day Batman Arkham City released to test it out and decided later.

And I can't white list the media player classic to make it run with nvidia chipset :(

Well, installed the new driver, and I can't say it's a surprise that even Minecraft is still struggling. Anyone have any other findings such as Starcraft 2? Would be curious if this updated driver did any good, anywhere. (m11xr3 i7 FYI)

I've come to the conclusion that Dell is completely inept when it comes to drivers. *no one* should be using a Dell driver... the latest nvidia drivers 10000000x better.

Agreed. Just switched back from the new Dell driver, to the new Nvidia driver, and Starcraft 2, and Minecraft now seem to work! Cheers to you Nvidia. Finally the R3 is worth it =p

Inept? You guys are funny. Everyone screws up drivers and just as often it's nvidia. Hell used to be the only good drivers were the modded ones based on prior revisions.

Someone else in the forum mentioned how dell was better at least on Optimus than others

Not that these drivers are great or anything but it strikes me funny the reactions to it as though pc gaming was some new thing. Drivers have always been an issue

    Hey ,

I have an M11x R2 , i5 8gb ram. I am having trouble with my driver. I switched from the basic driver that dell offer (257.30) to 285.62. MW3 seems to improve a lot but all my other games are at low quality now and i am only getting like 15-20 fps (even worst with StarWar the old republic 10 fps). I switched agin to 257.30 and now for Star war i have 20-25 fps. I tried everything, whitelisted, put global setting on high, physix on high performance ( even tho i dont really get what i mean) but still 8 fps for star wars. I mean is it a problem with the driver? did i instal it correctly?

My second question is more about throttle. I keep reading about this. I guess it means to push your processor a little bit further. Is it easy to learn? i mean for someone who never did it? is it possible to learn quickly how it works?

    Thanks in advance,

    Louis
