I just bought Fallout New Vegas during the Summer Steam Sale. I am using the latest Nvidia 275.33 drivers. Shortly after the first cutscene during character creation, the audio gets really weird and then the game freezes. I have played a non steam version of this game on this computer before with no issues. Has anybody else played Fallout New Vegas from Steam successfully on this laptop?

    Thanks!

Could be something with the recent patch that went out as well.

I am playing Fallout NV from Steam on my R3. No perceived problems.
The initial disk based release had some driver problems with DX10 and DX11 cards which forced you to use a corrective dll. This problem was very evident during the character creation sequence. Subsequent updates corrected this problem. Not sure what you might be observing on your R2, suspect some potential driver issues. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

    Love Fallout 3 and NV.

So in other words you had a pirated version - (New Vegas is a steamworks game universally). That could be why you keep freezing.
