FYI for anyone that is interested, the keyboards between the m11xr1 and r2 and different. Not too sure if anyone has mentioned this.

The pin arrangement is the same, but the way the keyboard's cable is oriented is different (pointed down on the R2 and pointed up on the R1). If you do some crazy cable bending (which electronic cables don't tend to like, but I did it anyway), the keyboard and lights will work. But what I found is the keyboard doesn't fit flush still and the edges of the keyboard touch the screen when the lid is closed.

I changed keyboard as I recently moved to the UK, with an US-keyboard layout M11xr2, and bought a UK keyboard off ebay. Turned out the keyboard was for the m11xr1.

Nevertheless I'm keeping the UK keyboard there, because I hardly move my computer around now, and when I do I always keep a piece of microfibre cloth between the keyboard and screen to prevent scratching.

So it's just the location of internal cable coming from the keyboard that is different, but the key layout is the same right?

Yep. Only other difference is the f6 key doesn't have the binary GFX print on it.
