I have a R1, my battery has been dead for a while now and I've been forced to use my laptop plugged into the charger at all times. In the past few months when my battery hasn't been working I have noticed some weird issues where I will be using the laptop and it will be plugged in and all of the sudden it stops detecting the charger and the screen goes dim and it's running on battery.

At first I figured this was from maybe slightly getting moved or possible issues with a charger but I've used 3 chargers (official alienware one and 2 dell chargers) and it seems to happen with all of them. It is also happening to me more frequently now.

It was hard enough getting used to my laptop without a battery, but now it makes it almost impossible to do anything on it when this happens. If I'm playing a game, the screen doesn't even get a chance to go dim because it's using so much power, it will just instantly shut off for no reason in the middle of the game and I will have to fiddle with the cable or just turn it on again.

Could this be a problem with my charger jack/the actual laptop? I have been debating spending money on a new battery, but even if I buy a new battery I'm afraid I will run into these issues still. Of course I will have a working battery so it won't instantly die but this shouldn't be happening in the first place.

Any ideas as to what could cause this or anyone with similar issues?
