    Hmmm...

Why is it that the R1 download page is showing the OSD A03 as the latest package? We were told that the A04 release was for both the R1 and R2 - they added the volume icons in A04.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...a03-available-discuss-here-2.html#post6614452

I wonder how many R1 users are still using A03 because Dell hasn't bothered to update the R1 downloads page?

Can anyone who's recently purchased an R1 verify the version of C:\Program Files (x86)\Alienware On-Screen Display\AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.exe?

EDIT: Looking at the Fixes and Enhancements section of the OSD A04 on the R2's download page it states:

Whereas on the OSD A03 on the R1's page only has:

Something's not right here, and I suspect that it's that Dell hasn't added A04 to the R1's driver page...

That is a good catch Slickie. Never noticed it before. I went ahead and grabbed the current R2 OSD as a test and ran the installer.

    1. Removed my existing OSD and closed
    2. Prompted to restart - restarted
    3. Back at Desktop, ran the installer again and OSD install completed and is working fine

To recap what Slickie posted -

R1 current OSD download is here:
    Drivers and Downloads

R2 OSD download is here - Release Date: 8/19/2010:
    Drivers and Downloads

Change notes for R2 as slickie mentioned:

#2 is the one we (R1 owners) are interested in. Be sure to update to this release of OSD if you have not already.

Great catch slickie! +1 and thanks.

It is the current version of OSD which functions on both R1 and R2.

The AW Quality rep that used to help people here stated that the A04 OSD Application that came out in... August? was for both the R1 and R2. Since I own an R2 I'd assumed that Dell had posted the new OSD application to the R1's download page. However, I've discovered that they haven't done so. The newer A04 OSD Application is supposed to fix a sleep issue for R1 owners apparently.

Anyway, if anyone from Dell still reads these forums... you might want to fix that. Sure was nice when erawneila was here.
