For the last week, my wireless connection has been absolutely horrible. I get barely 50kb/s, youtube videos take forever to load, ect.

Every other computer in the house gets about 1mb/s wirelessly.

My router is working fine, its G.

So far, ive tried disabling and re-enabling the wifi card, but I really have no idea what to do to fix this.

    edit:
upon further investigation, the dl starts out at reasonable speeds, around 500, but then dies to 50 inaround 20 seconds.

call Dell support and see what they say prob send you a new card. Or do what I did and upgrade the card to a faster card well worth it. i put a intel n6300 and installed a 3rd ant wire, now very fast.

    Move closer to WiFi
Make sure both wires are attached well
Youtube does this normally, anyhow - fast burst DL, then slower after the initial "burst"

Is your laptop in overclock mode?

    download network stumber

Then bring up your wireless and monitor the graph during speed tests. See if there are drops [IMG]
like the dip in this one. if so prob a wireless card issue. possible fixes include uninstalling drivers then reinstalling. Compare netstumbler results to other laptops that are fine and compare SNR levels the higher the better.

If your graph looks good no drops during speed test then reset your IE tools>internet options>advanced> reset down at the bottom.

also verify speeds with it hardwired.

network stumbler says no wireless adapter found. Im going to try uninstalling and reinstalling network adapter.

The drops in speed happen in html downloads, steam, and torrents.

This computer is really starting to me off.

Everything is stock on my computer. Its an R2 if that matters.

Any other laptops in the house to compare? Does this happen only at home?

Might try turning off your wireless router, unplug it for 30 seconds and turn it back on to see if that helps.

Another thing to check is how hot the router is. I had to put a fan under mine to get good speeds.

bad wireless card. possible fooling around in advanced device settings setting it to g only, and mess with other settings in the device manager, but just get dell to replace.

Edit* i just tried vstumbler it is wrong prob not work with our w-network card because it drops from 0-80 for mine too and i have no problems.
